Today in questions we never thought we’d ask: is it okay to put Bonjela on your vulva?

It’s a question we didn’t think we needed to answer, but over on Mumsnet, someone’s asking it.

Should you date a guy who has no female friends?

One mum took to the forum to ask if it’s okay to rub Bonjela – the teething and ulcer gel – on her ‘fanjo’ (meaning vagina) to numb a pea sized lump on her vulva so she could ‘lance and squeeze the bugger’.

‘Tried yesterday and it was so eye wateringly painful but I only… Read the full story

When it came out last month that Mike Pence never eats alone with a woman who isn’t his wife, we all laughed.

Instead of slamming him for viewing women as purely potential sex objects, rather than friends or confidants or companions, we took the piss.

But, while we were taking the piss, we missed the point. The point being, that if your boyfriend (or husband, or partner) doesn’t have any female friends, you’re on to a really, really bad thing.

There are four major potential factors at play, if the man you’re involved with has no discernable female friends. And to be honest, none of them are… Read the full story

Turmeric is foodie craze that just won’t die.

Turmeric lattes are the new matcha lattes. Pret’s been taken over by turmeric-tinted salad boxes. Healthy snacks are being given the turmeric treatment.

It's not sexist to make men take the bins out, it's equality

Not only does it taste delicious, but the spice is also supposed to have magical anti-inflammatory, cancer-defeating, antioxidant properties. It’s kind of the new superfood fad that’s been known about in India for centuries.

But it was only really when Instagram beauty blogger Sadia Slayy came along that people started smearing the stuff on their faces.

They might be the best thing to happen to brunch since the waffle maker was invented, but avocados are apparently legitimately dangerous.

According to The Times, the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons has reported a notable rise in the number of people going to hospital with “serious stab and slash injuries” after attempting to get into an avo.

Speaking to The Times, Simon Eccles, secretary of the BAPS said (in what is probably our favourite statement of the year): ‘People do not anticipate that the avocados they buy can be very ripe and there is minimal understanding of how to handle them.

The weather and the weather forecast have a profound effect on how we shop, weather analysts say.

Is it actually a good idea to rub turmeric on your face?

And it can be predicted down to an exact degree Celsius whether you are more or less likely to buy things from a shop.

‘People are most likely to buy soup between 4C and 6.5C,’ Alex Rutter, managing director EMEA of The Weather Company, tells Metro.co.uk at the AI Summit.

‘If it’s colder than that, people look for roasting joints, if it’s warmer than that, people think of soup… Read the full story

In a stirring photo series, photographer Roger Weiss has managed to get us questioning the way we both see and portray beauty, power and femininity.

The series, Human Dilatations, is inspired by Kintsugi, a Japanese concept which loosely translates to ‘golden joinery’.

It is a beautiful idea, where fragments of broken items are joined together again with golden fill – emphasising the idea that nothing is ever really broken.

Claiming to be the new dating app for 21st century gay men, I was curious to discover what Chappy has to offer that other dating apps don’t. What makes this app so special?

After downloading the app and linking it to my Facebook profile (this is the only way you can make a profile) I was greeted with the question “Ready to find the right guy for you?”

Sure!

Choice is at the heart of Chappy. That’s because after you’ve signed up for the app and made your profile, you’re presented with a slider so that “whenever your mood changes,” you can “slide your finger on the Chappy scale.”

Vaginal discharge isn’t something we often see.

It’s not shown in adverts for liners (we’re only shown pristine, clean ones or those with a light soaking of ambiguous blue liquid), people don’t share photos of their discharge online (apart from that time people did the #PantyChallenge), and we don’t tend to see pictures of it in sex ed.

It’s no wonder, then, that so many girls and women worry that there’s something ‘wrong’ with their discharge.

If you’re an avid runner, boxer, swimmer – any kind of athlete in fact, yoga is going to help increase your flexibility.

When looking for the right yoga class, you might be tempted to plump for one which is more movement than meditation – after all, you’re there primarily to work the body.

But what you might not know is that meditation can have a profound effect on your athletic performance.

Pussy over pain: Meet the woman asking why we're comfortable with violence but not vaginas

We at Metro have been taking Masturbation Month pretty seriously, and you can find all the writing we’ve done about it on our Masturbation Month page.

Scrolling through the comments last night (yes, we do that, and yes, it makes us sad when you say we’re crap) I noticed several people asking why we’ve written so much about masturbation recently, and why we were ‘so obsessed with it.’

It’s a fair question. Why have we committed to… Read the full story

Because Philadelphia-based photographer Shannon Dermody has created a photo series showing Disney princesses dealing with all kinds of dark issues – including drugs, domestic violence and rape.

In series of situations quite apart from the saccherine, feel-good world of Disney with their singing animals, these photos seek to show audiences the dramatic conditions some women live with every day.

There’s a creepy aspect of childrearing I can’t believe still happens.

Almost every parent, in my experience, is guilty of it.

Why I’m relaxed about my toddler’s ‘excessive’ screen time

Most grandparents as well.

Strangers, too – in fact, they’re usually the worst.

It prematurely sexualises our infant kids, scandalously before they can even string a sentence together.

How anybody, in 2017, can possibly think it’s appropriate to eroticise our sweet, pint-sized sucklings in such a way is beyond me.

Our cherished offspring must be guarded at all costs from this plague of pernicious perversity.

I’ll write ‘face mask, TV, tea’ or ‘scheduled relaxation time’ (SRT for short) into my planner, highlight it in the special relaxing/social shade of pink, and assign it a set time and date.

When I tell people about that, they massively take the p*ss.
