Stop letting people convince you that your vagina’s supposed to smell of roses

(Picture: Liberty Rose Sadler/metro.co.uk)

It feels like every other week a new product will pop up on Etsy or in supermarkets, promising to get rid of your vagina’s smell and give it the scent of freshly cut roses, or peaches, or perfume.

These products prey on the insecurities so many people with vaginas have had since they first became of their genitals: that their vagina smells ‘gross’ or ‘weird’ or ‘disgusting’.

Aldi are selling their own super cheap pizza ovens

These insecurities start young.

We’ve all heard stories of ‘fishy’ vaginas, from boys trying to impress their mates with their… Read the full story

In 2014, a man named Cees Cornelis proposed to his long-term partner, Madison Elizabeth in Yosemite National park.

Three-year-old Zuri-Sanaa is swiftly becoming a fashion icon all on her own

In that moment, the pair promised each other to be ‘each other’s permanent adventure buddies’.

And Cees and Madison made that promise come true when in 2016, they decided to set out to visit all 59 National Parks in ‘one massive loop’, in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the National Park Service.

The pair spent 10 months travelling to all of the parks they could physically drive to in their beloved RV.

If this sounds like an impossible decision, you owe a big thank you to Krispy Kreme who have just launched their very own coffee and hazelnut spread.

Think of family holidays and most people recall them fondly.

As kids, the prospect of being stuck with your parents for a week may have seemed hellish but more often than not they were adventures and enough of a break from the norm to create some great memories.

We need to talk about queefs/fanny fartsStop letting people convince you that your vagina's supposed to smell of roses

There’s also something charming about the chaos these trips bring about, particularly if you’re heading to an unknown town, they can be tricky to get right.

Why a pitstop in California’s Surf City is perfect when you’re bored of Venice Beach and Los Angeles

It was when we were bobbing along on a Venetian gondola in California that I suddenly realised it was all a little surreal.

Surf City, or Huntington Beach as it’s officially called, had officially surprised me.

48 hours in Iceland – How to make the most of a short break on the magical island

On a brief, 36-hour pit stop through the seaside town, I managed to cram in a bucketload of things – a sunset gondola ride being one of them.

So if you’re looking to explore the California coast, and you’ve exhausted Venice Beach and the standard Los Angeles spots, here’s what you should do in Surf City.

What having adult acne has taught me about beauty

It’s tempting to just hide your skin (Picture: Mmuffin for Metro.co.uk)

The moment I hit puberty, my face erupted into acne.

I don’t remember ever having any issues about developing boobs or growing body hair – all that seemed like no big deal compared to what was happening to my face.

10 things NOT to say to someone with acne

I looked like lava had rolled across me and hardened in random lumps and angry patches.

Worst of all, there was nothing I could do about it. None of the supposed ‘teenage acne cures’ in Boots did a damn thing.

My doctor was dismissive – it wasn’t… Read the full story

Tampons in Beautiful Places
Not your average tampon location (Picture: Tampons in Beautiful Places/Instagram)

Tampons and sanitary pads have a (very) important function.

But when discussing them out in the open – whether about the tampon tax, how terrible our PMS is or the stigma around vaginas in general – we’re more likely to leave the conversation feeling negative than particularly inspired.

Which is why one Instagram account is seeking to change this through a series of photographs: of tampons in beautiful places.

Thinking about naming your baby something classic and timeless? Or naming them after a relative who impacted your life in wonderful ways?

Lame.

The coolest parents don’t go classic and simple. They go trendy, selecting names that fit into the specific cultural times in which their baby is born.

This £5.99 rosé from Aldi has been ranked one of the best wines in the world

Never fear – you no longer have to put up with a boring, old school name like Charles or Rachel.

Poole Harbour at dawn (Picture: Getty)

Despite cropping up almost every week on the Antiques Roadshow, Poole has more to it than just its pottery.

35 pictures that prove Devon is the perfect summer holiday destination

It’s a sweet little harbour town on the Dorset coast.

Whilst it doesn’t have a beach like its neighbour Bournemouth, it certainly has a lot of other things going for it.

Here are eight reasons why you should give Poole a try, rather than sticking to the same UK seaside towns.

We’ve all been there: Alone, on a Saturday night, feeling sorry for ourselves because we couldn’t be bothered to make the effort to go out – instead choosing to cuddle up with our pets and marathon-watch Netflix with a glass of wine in hand.

Pawsecco is here for anyone who prefers drinking with their pet to socialising

But now, things are changing: Your pets can finally drink along with you.

No longer shall they judge you for filling up your glass as you fill theirs with water.

The thought of being a mother scares me (PIcture: Liberty Antonia Sadler)

Alright, it’s not like I’ve watched Rosemary’s Baby one too many times and the idea of kids scares me in THAT way.

I’ve not completely lost the plot.

Can we just f***ing stop asking couples when they’re going to have a baby?

But as a semi-responsible* adult (*I use this term very loosely), in a semi-serious relationship, with a semi-sensible outward demeanour, it’s something that comes up.

Even if it’s a subtle ‘it really suits you’ when I’m holding a baby or a less subtle ‘ooooh that will be you soon’ from an aunt,… Read the full story

A doctor has bashed Gwyneth Paltrow for Goop’s recipe for a Morning Matcha Smoothie

There was a time where Gwyneth Paltrow was just another beautiful, rich and slightly strange celebrity woman, and so we were perfectly happy to let her get on with her life.

Bic made a special pink lighter to help women light candles while men set fire to BBQs

But then Goop came along, and Gwyneth no longer had to confine her strange advice to interviews. She had a whole platform to say stupid things like ‘walking around barefoot cures depression’ and ‘spend £300 on a hat’.

But not any more. Gwynnie, it seems, has gone too far.

‘If you want to f*ck with me’ announced Gwyneth Paltrow in an interview last week, ‘You’d better bring your A-game’.

After suffering a spinal injury due to a motorcycle back in 1982, 52-year-old Andy Beadsley, a wheelchair user, joined the WheelyboatTrust, a charity dedicated to providing mobility impaired people with the opportunity and freedom to enjoy waters large and small all over the UK, as a Director.

Wheelyboats first came about as a direct result from one of its founding Trustees, Bill Buchanan, sustaining a spinal injury. Much like Andy, his accident also left him a wheelchair user.

Despite all the period-positive moves being made in the world – the launch of period pants, bloggers sharing pictures of period blood, people fighting back against the tampon tax – there’s still a general vibe of ‘periods should neither be seen nor heard’ in the air.

Tampons in Beautiful Places: The Instagram account using tampons to make political art

Sorry mate, your ripped jeans wearing days are over (Picture: Vanni Bassetti/Getty)

It’s getting warmer and sunnier so all around the internet we’re already seeing the ‘eight things you have to wear this summer’ and the ‘five things you definitely shouldn’t wear’.

Stop telling women they can't wear things they like past a certain age

How are we still using childlessness as a stick to beat women with in 2017?

By the time we reached 2017 I had hoped for several things.

But no. Just like all women’s clothing being made with pockets, it seems that progress is glacially slow. Which is why I find myself wretchedly disappointed by Thomasina Miers.
