A beauty brand has been slammed by disability campaigners and beauty bloggers for its “offensive” eyeliner name.

Despite a Twitter backlash and shops refusing to stock it, Smith & Cult has defended itself after launching a line of products called ‘Wax Spastic’.

Philip Connolly, policy manager of Disability Rights UK told metro.co.uk the name is ‘unbelievably offensive’.

Disability campaigners aren’t pleased with Smith & Cult’s ‘Wax Spastic’ eyeliner

He said: ‘I always thought advertising was supposed to be sensitive and would know its audience and be modern. They have failed on all accounts.

When you’re a new mum, exhausted and teary-eyed after hours of getting your baby to latch, seeing stunning Instagram shots of mums peacefully feeding their kids hurts a little.

Here's how to eat, exercise and think your way to a better night's sleep

It’s important to see representations of breastfeeding that aren’t so perfect – just to remind women struggling that they’re not alone.

Previously, Lindsey Bliss shared her experience with mastitis, while Jessica Martin-Webber posted photos of the uncomfortable position she had to get into just to feed her child.

Barbie doll is often used as a short-hand for cookie cutter beauty.

Everyone knows that Barbie is thin, and blonde, and embodies the Eurocentric ideals of beauty.

Or at least, she used to be. Barbie haven’t been resting on their laurels. In fact, they’ve moved with the times. Realising that there’s something a bit bland about only recognising one kind of beauty, the expanded their range to include different skin tones and slightly different body shapes. Admittedly, they’re all still very pretty, but it’s at least a line-up that a little girl could find something close to herself in.

Meet Jacinda Pender. She’s 19 years old, has 12,000 followers on Instagram, and describes herself as an ‘advocate for self-love and body positivity’.

Basically, she’s brilliant, badass, and we could all learn from her wisdom – even if she is much, much younger than us.

Is a blow dry actually any better for your hair than using straighteners?

Jacinda got loads of attention on the internet the other week after posting a meme that encouraged black girls and women to appreciate their lips.

We’ve seen many a quick body transformation photo.

Usually, they’re either a weight loss photo, or bloggers sharing side-by-side before and after photos of their stomachs tensed and un-tensed, standing at different angles to display how their postures change, and showing how different clothing sizes can look on the same body.

Meet the six-year-old Instagrammer who's so stylish that she's featured in Vogue

But one woman who was tempted to share a photo of her own stomach, both tensed and un-tensed, has been questioning whether there is a need for her to do so.

It’s rare that I hear of a kind of sex I don’t know about.

As a part time sex writer, knowing about all the weirdest ways that you can insert things into other people is kind of my job.

But, I admit, astral sex had managed to escape my attention. I would go so far as to say that I had never heard of it.

So just in case you’re in the same boat, I’ll explain.

Astral sex is out of body sex. It’s when your soul leaves your body and has sex with another body. It’s having sex without, y’ know. Having sex.

Our countryside escape (Picture: Huntsham Court)

My fiance and I both work in very busy jobs in London and decided we needed a weekend out of the city, in the countryside to recharge and spend some proper quality time together.

Huntsham Court promised this with an added dose of luxury and glamour.

It’s an exquisite baronial mansion in the beautiful Devon countryside, near Exmoor National Park and the Somerset border, and is just two hours from London by train.

Calling itself an un-hotel, it’s an opulent home from home that lets you and your friends play lords and ladies of the manor, if only for a little while.

Before we were plunged into the world of technology, selfies weren’t really a thing that anyone did.

We all had disposable cameras, and we were not about to ruin one precious snap on taking an awkward photo of our face, which may or may not have turned out nice. The risk was simply too big to take.

But long gone are those days,… Read the full story

Barbie has a new line up and we're in love with how diverse it is

As it was the Human Rescue Alliance’s 30th anniversary, they decided to hold a black-tie-masquerade ball for all pups and their owners.

It was held at the Washington Hilton, a very fancy place for some very fancy dogs, who thoroughly enjoyed the event, which honoured the programs and services of the Humane Rescue Alliance.

According to the Humane Rescue Alliance’s event page, the evening consisted of an ‘extensive silent and live auction’, dinner (with doggy food for the little ones), a program, dancing and some ‘special surprises’.

I didn’t know how to care for my hair until I was 25

This article is part of Hair Care, our month-long investigation and exploration into our relationships with hair and the cultural implications that come with it.

Doing my hair was a Sunday night ritual for my mum, or one of my older sisters, to sit me on a cushion between their legs, head rested on their knee, and plait my hair into a multitude of styles. Single plaits, twists, canerows… Whatever they felt like whipping it into.

I sat there flinching but obedient because it had to be neat for school.

While some of my best friends, who were White and Asian, were allowed to sport their hair as they pleased, mine without due care would look messy, wild and untamed. And so I sat there every Sunday to look like I was cared for.

I never did it myself, oh no.

Ask any black girl you know and they’ll tell you tales of their mums, aunts and sisters combing and plaiting their… Read the full story

We are all deeply nosy creatures who enjoy nothing more than getting the lowdown on other people’s relationship drama – whether it’s purely for the gossip factor, to make ourselves feel better about our own rubbish dating lives, or reassure us that it’s totally normal to sometimes resent your partner with a burning passion at 4am.

Of course, unless you’re mates with a bunch of people who like to live their lives super openly, it’s tricky to access the not-so-perfect details.

Until now, that is.

There are few things that fill us with a deep sense of shame quite like having to resort to speed-dating.

There’s nothing wrong with speed-dating, to be clear. It just comes with deep-rooted embarrassment caused by a public declaration of: ‘I need to find love and I am willing to chat with a bunch of people in a job interview setting to make it happen’.
