We’ve all been there – the local takeaway had too many tasty treats to choose from, so you ordered everything and hoped your insides would expand to fit in all the greasy goodness.

When Summer Arlexis, a student at Boston University in the US, noticed a serious lack of diversity among Disney princesses, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

To show Disney lovers and black girls the world over that Afro hair most definitely can be princess hair, she set about recreating some of the most popular hairstyles sported by Disney women.

Summer usually wears her hair in Senegalese twists, and she’s proved with her creations that braids are just as versatile as any other style.

Manny the bulldog has got it pretty good.

Four years ago, he was due to be sent to an animal shelter, but Chicago resident Amber Chavez, 32, stepped in and took him home.

The wrinkly canine now boasts over a million likes on his Facebook page, 20,000 followers on Twitter and nearly 700,000 on Instagram. He’s even got his own website, selling merchandise emblazoned with his face.

Since being rescued by Chavez, Manny’s online popularity has rocketed. She says she didn’t start sharing pictures of Manny to become famous, but his popularity grew organically.

Meet the new BrewDog beer you absolutely cannot leave sitting at the back of the cupboard.

Born To Die is BrewDog’s latest IPA with a difference – you have to drink it within 45 days.

Only two batches of the 8.5% ABV Imperial IPA are being made this year, this first of which is out now and must be drunk before July 4.

The Scottish craft brewery says beer-lovers should drink the ‘terminally hoppy’ beverage within the set time to experience it at its ‘flavourful and aromatic peak’.

Let’s be honest here. It’s highly likely Niko the French bulldog did have something to do with chewing up his owner’s pen.

The fact that most humans don’t chew up pens is the first clue.

The second is Niko’s reaction to being quizzed. He’s basically all of us when we know we’re in the wrong.

Initially, he tries to pretend he didn’t hear the question (although the guilt’s written all over the little Frenchie’s face).

Eventually, after his owner persists in her line of questioning, Niko decides there’s nothing for it but to back away very slowly.

Rachael Farrokh has been battling anorexia for over 10 years now. At 5ft 7in, she weighs just a little over 40lbs.

Last month, she posted a heartbreaking video on YouTube where she asked for people’s help. ‘I’ve never been ever wanting to ask for help,’ she says, ‘but I need your help.’

During her long battle, the 37-year-old from Southern California has been in and out of several treatment centres. But, now, at such a low body weight, only one Colorado hospital can help her.

To get there, she needed financial help because her husband Rod Edmonson has left his job as a personal trainer to be her full-time carer.

Jim Mickunas’ daughter has, he says, ‘always found her own path’. She played football at school, wore a tux to her first communion, and achieved her lifelong ambition of becoming an engineer. 

So, he couldn’t imagine having the traditional father/daughter slow waltz at her wedding. ‘That is not what we were or are,’ he explains.

What he came up with was so much better.

This clip of their adorable dad and daughter moment has now been viewed over a million times on YouTube (and is guaranteed to leave all daddy’s girls with a lump in the throat).

It starts traditionally enough – Jim leads his daughter onto the floor and they start dancing to ‘It’s a Wonderful World’. But, what happens next is just perfect.

Aussie mum Maha Al Musa, 52, says she’s proud to still be breastfeeding her school-age daughter.

In fact, Maha says she will breastfeed six-year-old Aminah wherever and whenever she wants milk, saying she’s just responding to her natural desire.

The mum from Byron Bay is pictured in the June issue of Australian weekly Woman’s Day, holding Aminah as she breastfeeds in a local park.

Maha, who follows a strict Paleo diet, believes strongly in the power of breast milk and says it’s the reason she’s never had Aminah immunised.

To help her live life to its fullest, Michelle Poler has decided to confront 100 fears in 100 days.

Art director Michelle moved to New York a few months ago to start a master’s degree in branding at the School of Visual Arts. She went from living what she describes as a ‘controlled lifestyle’ to a whole new life in a new city.
