Sex is a part of most people’s daily lives, but sometimes sex isn’t as straight forward as people like to think.

You can forget what you thought you knew about orgasms, hygiene and what turns your partner on because you might be surprised by what you find out when you review the history and science of sex.

Some men are actually into this (Picture: Liberty Antonia Sadler for Metro.co.uk)

As a sex-worker, you get to experience a wide range of kinks and fetishes as men (and women) open their hearts, minds and wallets to you.

They know they can ask you for anything because you don’t have to talk about it ever again.

The worst clients and weirdest requests a sex worker has actually received

It’s a bit like therapy, and your bedroom is a safe room where you’re both free to do anything.

Some fetishes are, of course, fairly obvious; I… Read the full story

There are some rather rude words for C – and not the ones you’re thinking of (Picture: Liberty Antonia Sadler for Metro.co.uk)

Sometimes we wonder: did some fetishes even exist before the internet came along?

Take cosplay, for example: while fans have dressed as their favourite characters for ages, cosplay as a fetish seems to be an internet-age invention.

Metro’s A to Z of fetishes: A is for armpits, amputees and watching men weep

But most fetishes are very old indeed – some of the fetishes here are thousands of years old.

Wait a minute, does cycling make your vulva bigger?

I started cycling properly a year ago, when I moved back to London from living abroad and realised how much I hated the tube.

black mochi ice cream ball filled with espressoYou can now down your espresso in the form of a black ball of ice cream

It’s hot, it’s crowded and the majority of people are absolute miseries.

So I kicked my crappy little Rayleigh town bike to the kerb and got myself an old but speedy road bike.

I started cycling a 20 mile round commute, which was great as it meant I saved £6.10 a day on travel and got my daily exercise out the way at the same time.

However, while I was expecting my legs to burn, I wasn’t expecting my vagina to.

That’s right, ladies – all that cycling had given me thrush, a urinary tract infection and the pièce de résistance – swollen labia.

I was… Read the full story

Many people dream of living out their days in a tropical jungle – but one man’s made it a reality by turning his back garden into the most amazing hidden rainforest.

Do contraceptive pills expire?

61-year-old Nick Wilson was inspired to transform his garden in Leeds after falling in love with big plants during a few family holidays in Cornwall in the 1990s.

In 1998, he decided to dedicated his entire backyard to large plants – and even opened the hidden paradise to visitors six years ago.

According to Nick, the entire jungle project took him 20 years to complete. Combining the likes of… Read the full story

Forget the treadmill, the best workout this summer is bouncing on a trampolene

When I was asked if I wanted to go trampolining on Thursday evening, I was hyped if not quite baffled.

I remember spending my last day before A Level study leave began, bouncing around my mate’s trampoline dressed like a St Trinians’ extra, shortly before getting rat faced in a crappy pub round the corner.

All parents will recognise the pain of having to clean a kid up covered in Sudocrem

Good times.

Trampolining can be tiring work and it can be pretty precarious. We’ve all accidentally fallen through the gaps at the sides, impaling ourselves on the springs – and half of the… Read the full story

Cards Against Humanity has brought out a 'for her' pack to protest the pink tax

It’s a pretty retro sport and not one that most people engage with on the regular.

But it’s bizarrely having a resurgence.

Bars like Bounce have sprung up around the UK, reigniting people’s love for ping pong and proving that it’s actually best partnered with a pint rather than a sports drink.

Loaded fries are a truly genius creation.

Fries with stuff on top? Delicious stuff like cheese and sauce and more cheese? Brilliant.

Do contraceptive pills expire?

For years, we’ve only been able to get loaded fries from specialist burger and fries establishments, or by creating our own.

But soon, getting our hands covered in sloppy fries could be as easy as popping into McDonald’s.

That’s right, people. McDonald’s is finally testing out their own version of loaded fries.

In cities across the US, McDonald’s branches have been trialing cheese and bacon covered fries.

If you’ve ever had trouble sleeping, you’ll know that the first piece of advice experts give you is to put down your smartphone before bed.

metro illustrationsYour bad night's sleep could be an evolutionary survival tool

Their blue-lit screens are thought to suppress melatonin, making it harder for you to drift off, and a constantly updating newsfeed can cause the brain to race, rather than relax, before bed – so we wouldn’t blame you if you put your rubbish night’s sleep down to your Twitter feed.

In actual fact, however, there might be something distinctly less technological… Read the full story

Ah the memories (Picture: Getty/REX/Mylo)

This year marks 19 years since I waved my childhood home goodbye and set off to the city of Nottingham for university.

Although I can’t get my head around the fact that it has been so long, I have many happy and even more slightly hazy memories of the three years I spent living in the Midlands city.

Bluey is a very small horse.

Extremely small, in fact. He’s believed to be the smallest horse in the world.

At two and a half months old, Blue stands at just 15 inches tall. Which, as we mentioned, is extremely small.

When he was born in France, Bluey weighed just 6lbs, making his owners, Wil Weijters and Veronica Holtskot, worry that he wouldn’t survive.

But thankfully, Bluey made it.

He’s showing no signs of dwarfism, and has no health issues… Read the full story

Why having a friend who shares the same chronic illness as you can be amazing

Over the past two years, I’ve made friends with lots of people who each share the same chronic illness as me – inflammatory bowel disease.

Having a friend who shares the same chronic illness as you can be life-changing

I’ve never met most of these friends, as we began speaking through various online support groups, for people such as myself, looking for other people who have been through a situation similar to mine.

Because of my inflammatory bowel disease, I had to have a stoma bag due to my colon almost perforating. While I have since had a reversal, which meant my small bowel was connected to my rectum to allow me to go the the toilet ‘normally again’, it hasn’t stopped me from speaking to people whose journeys have continued down a different path to mine.

Most recently, I met a girl I had been speaking to for two years, and who over… Read the full story

Whether they’re drinking it in the sea, or using empties to build boats, one thing’s clear – Australians really love beer.
