We all know drink-driving is as stupid as it gets, but what if we could turn the tables. What if booze could actually get us home?

Some brave Scottish scientists have gone some way to answering that question, by powering a car with whisky. Because Scotland.

Having a friend who shares the same chronic illness as you can be life-changing

The experiment saw a Ford Focus go for a drive in Edinburgh last Friday morning, fueled only by whisky residue, in a move that could only be more stereotypically Scottish if the exhaust was replaced by bagpipes.

A house you will never afford (Picture: Getty Images)

Most young people have got used to the idea that they’ll literally never own a home.

Having a friend who shares the same chronic illness as you can be life-changing

It’s amazing we get the time to think about it really, given that according to baby boomers we’re mostly busy drinking lattes out of avocados instead of saving chunks of our incredibly high salaries. But, somehow, most of us have managed to come to terms with the fact that we’ll probably end up renting for the rest of our lives.

If you had any remaining hope left, however, then we… Read the full story

Many dog owners will be used to their pets behaving strangely with mirrors around the house.

They may bark at it, growl, try and play with their reflection, or simply ignore them altogether.

The big question is: can your beloved pooch recognise him or herself in the mirror?

We all know that our reflections are immediately recognisable as our own, and this is so natural that we tend not to think about it.

However, this is actually a major feat, because it requires something not all creatures have – self awareness.

Why I didn’t add my partner on social media for over 6 months

When I first started dating my partner, I decided not to add him on social media.

agoraphobic photographer travels the world with google street viewWoman terrified of leaving the house travels the world with Google Street View

At first, this decision came because we weren’t exclusive, and I didn’t want my friends and family to know more about him than I did through mutual friends and tagged photos.

Not having him on social media also meant there was more to learn from him in real life; things that would normally be on his profile such as what his interests were, where he liked to go, and what his family were like.

Being able to experience this for myself instead of dropping a few words into the Facebook search bar meant I got to know him personally and not through a facade.

When we decided to go ‘exclusive’, I still didn’t add him on social… Read the full story
