William McNeillie uploaded a photo of the letter, which was written to his mother, to Twitter on 11 July.

He explained to his followers that twelve years ago, his dog, Skye, gave birth to puppies. In 2005, a couple, Julie and Alan Cousins, came to adopt the last remaining puppy, who they named Jos, and took him home for a lifetime of happiness as one of the family.

The constant socialising doesn’t come cheap (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Extroverts are easily spotted due to their love of trying new things, being the centre of attention, and of course talking non-stop. But it’s not all as fun as it looks.

A devastated couple have penned a heartbreaking letter to their late-dog's original owners

Being an extrovert is great, there is a natural confidence, an ability to make friends easily and so much mischief to be had.

But it’s not all fun, games and attending every single party possible, because there are some struggles that only extroverts are aware of.

And it brings a… Read the full story

Look, in our days of perusing the internet, we’ve seen a lot of things that unintentionally look like genitals.

A ruffled shoulder on a top, for example. A cloud that looks like a dick. There’s even been a pool float that looks like a massive sanitary pad.

But this particular purse doesn’t look like a vagina at all.

Nope. Not budging. Not even a tiny bit.

This bag, by Kate Spade, is designed to look like a porcupine.

Parents should be allowed to have their baby’s ears pierced without people claiming it’s child abuse

It’s up to the parent whether they want their baby’s ears pierced (Picture: Blend Images/Getty)

When I had my first baby, I joined a parenting forum to help me with the endless worries and isolation that came along with a newborn.

Over the years, I made some great friends but it became clear that several topics just could not be discussed rationally.

Everyone was so passionate about their beliefs the thread would descend into chaos with people quitting the site, the virtual equivalent of slamming the door in someone’s face.

Along with abortion, smacking and breast versus bottle feeding, one of the flashpoint topics was piercing a baby’s ears.

Being a newlywed comes with a whole host of benefits.

There’s a genuinely renewed sense of love and excitement between me and my partner. We had the most amazing party of our lives, and we went on a dreamy holiday. All in all, I’d say that marriage has much to recommend it.

While cutting into a perfectly ripe avocado at lunchtime, Jan Campbell was struck by how beautiful the stone inside was.

NYX's lip cream is the most pinned nude lipstick on Pinterest

Admitting she’d never really paid attention to the stones in avocados, this particular stone really stood out to her.

On her website, Avocado Stone Faces, Jan explains that it dawned on her that she was ‘holding a substantial object’ in her hand, which had ‘a lot of potential’.

‘It felt like a shame to just throw it into the compost. After deliberating over it for a few minutes, I wiped… Read the full story

In a frank conversation on Loose Women about her son Harvey’s autism yesterday, Katie Price admitted that she’d considered hiring a prostitute for his eighteenth birthday.

Disturbingly, this seems to be an off-the-cuff remark that Katie’s seen fit to turn into a serious discussion point – ‘At 15 you go through puberty,’ she said, ‘and it’s natural to experiment with yourself’.

Guests at ZSL London Zoo this morning might’ve got a little more than they bargained for.

Amidst the usual critters that fill the Camden attraction, something decidedly paler was on the prowl, as a bunch of London Zoo staff stripped nude to streak through the zoo.

There’s method to the madness, though, with the zookeepers in question – Andy Davison, Cat Cheyne, Grant Kother and Tina Campanella – all aiming to raise awareness for the charity’s Streak For Tigers event.

Moving in with your partner is a huge decision, and not one that should be made lightly.

Hey, Vogue: Sharing clothes does not make Gigi and Zayn icons of gender fluidity

By agreeing to move in with someone, you’re agreeing to have your name alongside theirs on a legally binding contract.

You’re investing time and money into making your home just the way you want it.

And most importantly – you’re making a massive commitment to your partner.

Of course, most people who have gone on to move in with their partner think about the points above before going ahead – but if… Read the full story

10 of the best vegan-friendly London restaurants that you can visit with your non-vegan friends
Everyone is welcome (Picture: Rex/ Shutterstok. Google Streetview/ Flickr/Ewan Muro)

Dining out with friends used to be a mare for vegans.

Looks of pity, alongside questions like ‘what can you eat’ when the V word is mentioned can raise hanger levels quicker than you can say nutritional yeast.

London’s best vegan restaurants and cafes to try today

Thankfully, non-vegan businesses are slowly beginning to realise the benefits of plant-based cooking – or perhaps just the value of the vegan pound.

People share harrowing tales from the front-lines of UK festivals

Take a look around – festival season is here.

It’s clear as day, everywhere you look – high street shops are pushing flower garlands and denim shorts, Instagram’s full of perfectly waved blonde hair-dos arranged just right in front of setting sun, and everyone seems to have a paper pint cup affixed permanently to their pal – no one’s spilling a drop, though.

Are lip masks worth the faff?

It’s often hard to draw parallels between the festival season ‘summer of love’ ideal we’re presented with by adverts and Instagram, and the cold, hard reality of a festival site.

Today marks National Black Country Day, and there are certain things that only a true Black Country resident can relate to.

A devastated couple have penned a heartbreaking letter to their late-dog's original owners

The Black Country is an area in the UK famous for being the centre of industry. In fact, the name comes from a large amount of surfaces being covered in black soot from the coal used in the factories at the time.

It is well known for the special slang, the importance it played in the industrial revolution and of course Peaky… Read the full story

At this point in a stress-filled, exhausting year, we’d happily take a holiday to an off-brand version of Butlins. That sounds relaxing.

Vogue, I adore you.

Long have I obsessed over the September Issue (the film, but also the massive yearly edition). Whenever I’m getting a haircut, I’ll flick through your pages. I went to the Vogue Festival. It was nice.

Hey, Vogue: Sharing clothes does not make Gigi and Zayn icons of gender fluidity

So please do not think I am bashing you with wild abandon.

I just need to make this clear: If you want to talk about gender fluidity, don’t put Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik front and centre.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are a heterosexual gender-conforming couple.

They may be, as you suggest, ‘part of a new generation embracing gender fluidity’, in that they’re embracing the benefits that an increased breaking down of gender boundaries brings (being able to express more feminine attributes, wearing a dress), but by putting them as your cover stars, you’ve suggested that they are the face of the… Read the full story

Beauty blogger Vika Shapel posted a photo of herself and a friend, each with half of their face left natural, and the other half painted brown.

But it’s always nice to have an excuse, right?

So here’s today’s: According to new research, having sex once a week could slow down the ageing process. Hooray.

A study published in Psychoneuroendocrinology in March found that women who have regular sex have longer telomeres – the caps on chromosones that protect the integrity of the DNA.

That’s a good thing. As you age, your telomeres shorten, and the shorter they… Read the full story
