In 2015, a friend of photographer Ivar Wigan’s was killed in a gang-related attack in Jamaica.

The family of Kem McLeod asked him to come to the funeral and take photographs – which then kickstarted his work Young Love.

‘The family asked me to come out to shoot the funeral and raise awareness of the gang killings affecting their community,’ Ivar told ‪Metro.co.uk‬.

Ivar Wigan has a strong connection to the country.

His family have history there and he has been taking photographs while visiting for more than 10 years.

While looking at his work it is clear that he captures exceptional beauty of the nation he which he clearly has such fond love for.

But the Scottish-born Londoner’s passion for Jamaica has not always been rosy.
