Transport for London has taken steps towards gender neutral rail announcements – and it’s time for this to become the wider norm

In case you didn’t know/hadn’t realised yet – recently Sadiq Khan spoke out on Question Time, committing to a ‘transition from gender-specific phrases like ‘ladies and gentlemen’, which are currently used in announcements, to a gender-neutral alternative such as good morning/good afternoon everyone’.

Changes will be made to pre-recorded announcements as well as guidance given to staff.

I sent a tweet out, celebrating this:

Meet the OAP Mr Universe contestants who will put you to shame

Introducing: The giant pornstar martini. It’s meant for four people – but we think we’ll let that one slide.

The bar and restaurant took to Instagram in April to share photos of the massive Martini, which has now been launched in all Slug and Lettuce bars across the country – and we couldn’t be more excited to try it out now it’s finally here.

There are several different stages of sleeping, but the one which is most important to the body is deep sleep.

In the modern age with our hectic lives and constant stimuli, people are getting less and less deep sleep, which can be having an affect on our health.

What is deep sleep?

Sleep researchers generally divide sleep up into five stages.

Stages one and two are ‘light sleep’, stages three and four are ‘deep sleep’, while stage five is REM.

A man has taken to Instagram to express his love for his wife and her ‘curvy body’, in a post reminding us it’s not just women who want to fight for body diversity.

Robbie Tripp, a public speaker, author and creative activist, posted a lovely message about his wife, Sarah, in which he discussed how much he loved her body.

Robbie said that he’d been attracted to curvier girls since his teenage years, and was always teased for this by his friends.

He had always liked women who were shorter and curvier – and girls that may be referred to as ‘chubby’, even if they were simply average-sized.

I think it’s time we stopped apologising for our mental health.

Meet the OAP Mr Universe contestants who will put you to shame

When I say that, please don’t get confused between apologising for your actions and apologising for your illness itself.

I strongly believe that if you are rude to someone, show anger to someone or even insult someone due to emotions that may be brought on by your mental health, you should apologise.

While the other person may be able to forgive and understand you, if you have hurt that person, you own up to it and accept… Read the full story

Why women’s clothes are actually pretty sexist

Look at those sexist jeans (Picture: Getty)

‘Feminists are offended by everything’ is a favoured expression for certain people on the internet.

They’re half right. Feminists are offended by everything that is sexist. Because by being offended we get s**t done.

Which is exactly how some random dudebro’s snark comment turned into a fascinating exploration of how women’s clothes have historically been sexist.

But parenting a child with ADHD is a whole other battle, as one mum is trying to show.

If they refuse to go for an STI check, don’t f*** them

In a ideal world, we’d all be using condoms and dental dams for every single sexual experience, regardless of whether they’re with our longterm partners or someone casual.

But alas, we are lazy humans, we like being intimate, and, frankly, dental dams are really bloody annoying.

If they refuse to go for an STI check, don't f*** them

So we rely on contraceptive pills and implants to get rid of the risk we take seriously – pregnancy.

The STI worry, meanwhile, falls by the wayside. We assume that people are infection and disease free because their bits look clean and… Read the full story

Start freezing fresh herbs, it will change your culinary life

Cooking with herbs makes legitimately makes a massive difference to the flavour of your food.

A dish which would be okay without them becomes something special when you’ve added them.

The Love Island boys are collaborating with BoohooMAN to model their latest collection

The downside to that being a variety of plastic packets languishing at the back of your fridge, turning into a sort of wet brown mulch.

Not flavorful, gross and not useful.

Given that a packet of basil or tarragon or sage (or whatever else it is you’re buying) costs about a quid, and lots of recipes call for more than one, it can up the cost of cooking by quite some margin.

If you’re only getting one use out of each bag of herbs, it’s hardly worth doing. Combine the waste of food, plastic and money and blandness starts to become more appealing.
