France now has an oyster vending machine because…France

France has had its fair share of odd vending machines.

Sure, you can get pizzas and condoms from vending machines around the world but they’re small fry in comparison to what our Gallic friends have.

Regina George is alive and well and this student’s yearbook photos prove it

They’ve got machines which produce anything from baguettes to short stories.

But nothing quite compares to a vending machine which spits out oysters.

Which is what one seafood vendor has invented.

You might not be heading to Kings Cross to board the Hogwarts Express this summer.

But, you could take a train to a very special Harry Potter adventure of your own. Because Edinburgh now boasts its very own Harry Potter shop.

France now has an oyster vending machine because...France

The shop is called Diagon House, and it’s located on Victoria Street in Edinburgh, which is allegedly the inspiration for Diagon Alley, the biggest shopping street in the Harry Potter books. And it sells pretty much anything Potter.

The shop is set over floors and is packed from floor to ceilings with wands,… Read the full story

IVF isn’t done on a whim – and NHS funding for it is a necessity

When I recently read an article in which described IVF as nothing but ‘people’s whimsical obsession with baby making‘, I was mortified.

pregnancy stickIVF isn't done on a whim - and NHS funding for it is a necessity

The article came after it was announced that local NHS cuts have forced 13 areas of England to either restrict or altogether stop offering IVF this year, in order to save money.

I can’t argue the need for funding, but what I can do is stand up for people being demonised simply for wanting a family.

Within the article, views were expressed surrounding the need for privatisation in order to look solely after physical and mental health. It suggested people should adopt instead of expecting an NHS-funded IVF cycle, and likened the funding of unhealthy lifestyle choices to becoming parents if people ‘fancy it’.

I understand the fears surrounding IVF and its… Read the full story

Look, we all know we’re not supposed to squeeze our spots.

But it’s just so tempting.

Attention, men: Please do not put your penis in a coconut

Let this story add to the pile of reasons you run through next time you’re staring in the mirror and thinking about going digging.

Katie Wright felt what she thought was one of those classic under-the-skin spots on her forehead. It didn’t have a head, just a sore bump.

So she tried squeezing it out.

That was a mistake.

Body positivity is something we bang on about a lot (read: every day) here at Metro.co.uk.

That’s because it’s important; we’re trying to make up for the last 200+ years of women being belittled and shamed for their natural states of being.

Our mums, grandmas, great-grandmas all at one time or another had to put up with being told that they weren’t slim enough, didn’t have big enough tits, didn’t have a nice enough arse.

The wine is flowing. The conversation is good. The lighting is subtle.

But what you really need to turn it up a notch is some good old fashioned sex tunes.

A bit of Marvin. A little Luther.

So you just yell out: ‘Alexa, play baby-making music’ and away you go. Sex, romance and baby making follows.

At least, that’s what the folks… Read the full story

‘Ohhh you are SO SWEET. You shouldn’t have! I’ll just line it up here where the light is good and take a quick snap of it.’

Those are the words that any man wants to hear after he hands over a Christmas, birthday, anniversary or Valentine’s day present.

Why do we feel the need to Instagram pictures of gifts?

There was a time where how often a person wore or used a present you had given them was the indicator of how much they liked it. But not now. Now it’s all about the social media coverage.

Behold the booze that’s officially been ranked the best in the world

We’ve all got an aunt with that sign on her kitchen wall.

‘Life’s too short to drink bad wine’ it reads. She loves it.

Laughs at it every time. Spills wine down the side of her glass every time someone bring it up, she’s laughing so much. Does that thing only aunts can pull off, where they sort of touch the side of their head and let out an exhausted half-laugh half-sigh. ‘Brilliant’, she says to no-one in particular.

There’s few things we enjoy more than a decent night’s sleep, but pizza is most definitely one of them.

You can now get a peaceful night's slumber in your very own giant pizza

We don’t care what kind of pizza it is. As long as it’s smothered in cheese and comes on a nice doughy base, we’re sold.

But what we’re also sold on is combining pizza and sleep together – and that’s something one fabulous Etsy seller has done for us.

A child’s Christening is a wonderful affair.

pregnancy stickIVF isn't done on a whim - and NHS funding for it is a necessity

It consists of some very special moments, especially in lead up to the event, such as picking your child’s outfit, selecting the godparents and getting all of your loved ones together in preparation for the lovely day.

Of course, to get everyone together you need some sort of invitation – or an events page, at the very least.

But one family learned the hard way to never, ever, trust dad to do the latter.

Grannies with glasses? Niche (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Since the dawn of time, we humans have found the sexy in everything: people get turned on by pretty much anything that moves and quite a lot of things that don’t.

Most fetishes are harmless fun.

Metro’s A to Z of fetishes: F is for furries, faces and futanari

So for example, in this episode of our fetish adventures, we’ll discover psychological terms that just mean fancying the opposite or same sex.

When one cheeky little boy wrote to the tooth fairy to tell her his teeth were worth way more than $1 each, he was quite confident in thinking he was going to start seriously cashing in each time he popped one under his pillow.

Woman's warning about skin infections will make you never pick a spot again

The boy had asked whether his usual $1 could be upgraded to $5, and it seems the fairy wasn’t too pleased. Which is fair enough, how can she afford to pay $5 for a tooth, especially when she’s got so many teeth to tend to?
