Turns out this game isn’t just for kids (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Ever wondered why your successful, intelligent, beautiful, funny, heterosexual female friends are single?

No, it’s not because they aren’t ‘putting themselves out there’ or because ‘they’re coming on a bit strong’.

It’s because there is a fundamental lack of men.

A Black Girls festival is coming to London next weekend

According to Jon Birger, author of Date-Onomics which explores America’s lopsided dating and marriage market, women greatly outnumber men.

‘It’s not that he’s just not into you’ Birger writes, ‘It’s that there aren’t enough of him.’

Don’t forget the lube (Picture: Dave Anderson for Metro.co.uk)

When I mentioned on social media that I was writing a feature about pegging, there was a whole heap of confusion.

Lots of people couldn’t understand how anyone could get an entire article out of how you hang your laundry.

Historical Sex: Sex toys have existed for longer than you can imagine

Only a few knew the truth and they just sniggered quietly at the back, and waited for the innocents to finish Googling and come shrieking back with very surprised expressions on their faces.

In case you didn’t know already, pegging – in this context,… Read the full story

If you’re permanently stuck on ‘read’ on WhatsApp, look away now.

Elderly couple Jean and Brian have made regular trips at their local makeup store – and they’re not there to add to her beauty bag.

Instead, Brian has been learning to do his elderly wife’s make-up before she goes blind and will be unable to do it herself.

A store employee shared their story online and said this was why she ‘loved [her] job so much.’

‘Meet Jean and Brian two of our very loyal customers, Brian was in for another make-up lesson today as he does his wife’s make-up everyday as she is going blind, such a wonderful couple who live their life to the full! [sic]’.

The image of the elderly couple, with Jean seated and her makeup freshly applied while her husband stands behind her, has touched hearts… Read the full story

Got a bad case of desert vagina?

We feel for you. It can be deeply frustrating to deal with a dry vagina that just won’t get wet.

Sex is painful, the embarrassment is too, you start to feel like a bit of a failure.

Yes, there’s lube, which is a wonderful thing we really should be using more often (there’s nothing shameful about using lube, FYI), but it can be helpful to know the root cause of what’s making your nether regions super dry.

Here are a few potential causes to look out for.

Alright, we’re off to Topshop to buy a load of backless dresses.

Or we might just take a pair of scissors to everything in our wardrobe.

New research highlights just how sexy a back can be, suggesting that an arched back is more appealing to all genders – because pushing your pelvis away from people shows you’re ready to mate.

Researchers from the University of Minho in Portufal created six computer-generated 3D models of a woman’s upper body, each with the back manipulated to be a different angle.

These six models were shown to 82 men and women from the front, side, and back. The participants were then asked to rate how attractive… Read the full story

Cancer isn’t pretty.

That’s what mum-of-two Ruth Naylor wants to highlight by sharing photos of the reality of life with cancer, charting all the low moments of treatment.

Ruth was diagnosed with a rare form of Hodgkin lymphoma – cancer of the lymphatic system – in August.

The photos show Ruth slumped in bed, with a bucket, receiving chemotherapy, and preparing to enter the PET scanner.

She’s hoping to show that despite looking like she had it all, cancer is a leveller. It’s doesn’t matter who you are or what you have, you’re going to feel absolutely awful.

‘On paper, I have it all,’ says Ruth. ‘A beautiful home we built ourselves, two… Read the full story

Those who grew up observing traditions of the Catholic Church will know all about the meat guilt on Good Friday.

The more devout followers of the religion will have had this guilt probably every Friday, and many households will still observe a fishy Friday due to the Christian tradition.

Abstinence from meat on Fridays is actually a rule laid out by the Vatican and remains in force today.

Not being able to have kids when you want them can be a source of anxiety (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Perhaps one of the less obvious impacts on my life of experiencing a severe mental health problem is the chance to start a family.

With a later start in having a significant relationship, I find myself now in my early 40s without children of my own.

schizophreniaYou should never be afraid to ask stupid questions about mental health

I realise there may be others in the same situation, dealing with not having children, or being single for long periods of time.

It’s National Black Cat Day!

If you didn’t know, that’s an annual celebration of black cats. Why? Because black cats are consistently overlooked when it comes to adoption.

In 2017 alone, black cats took 13% longer to rehome than cats of any other colour.

The reasons for this are muddled. Some believe it’s down to superstitions around black cats being bad luck, others think it’s because black cats don’t show up as well in photographs.

Regardless of the reason, it’s a massive shame – because while all cats are wonderful, black cats are extra special. They’re like tiny, sleek panthers.

So in honour of National Black Cat Day, we’re gently nudging your attention towards a… Read the full story

It’s Friday night. I’m sitting in the pub, and I’m listening to my friend describe in great detail how she is being firedoored.

She doesn’t realise that’s what is happening, and I don’t think it’s really the moment to mention that her experience has a name, but it’s true. That’s what is happening.

For the uninitiated, being firedoored is when the access is entirely on one side.

Unlike dogs, cats HATE Halloween.

Let’s face it, while their humans are running around in costumes made from bin bags, bits of cardboard and a bit of cotton wool, cats are right there looking at you like you are a freaking moron.

19 sausage dog outfits for Halloween

They don’t exactly have much interest in the food you’re cooking up like the dogs – because frankly all those fancy finger foods and sweets are lacking in nice large chunks of tuna.

Still. Some owners like to try and get their mog involved none-the-less. And, if the cat will allow it (because they are the ones in charge in case you didn’t get the memo) why not?

Here are some of the best cat costumes for Halloween we’ve seen so far.

Most women have been in the situation where someone has asked for their number.

Sometimes it’s a nice thing. You come away from it with a warm glow and the hope that they’re going to text you. It could be the start of something.

Other times it’s less nice.

Asking for a number is fine. Being aggressive about it isn’t. I’ve lost count of the times that I (or one of my friends) has been asked for our number by someone who won’t take no for an answer. Sometimes they even call the number in front of you to check that it’s not fake.

Although Leeds is the third largest city in the UK, it can sometimes appear that this thriving city is often living in the shadow of some of it’s northern counterparts.

For a long time, we’ve assumed that smoking weird massively messes up your sex life… based on a mixture of research and anecdotal evidence.

There are reports that weed can contribute to cotton vagina (a fun term for a vagina dryer than the Sahara), and many of us have experienced having sex with some guy who simply cannot ejaculate after a bong hit, resulting in a miserable rubbing together of limp genitals.

But apparently, smoking weed could actually be improving people’s sexual experiences.

Shocking, we know.

New research by the Stanford University School of Medicine has found that cannabis users have 20% more sex than non-users. Interesting.

The results were pulled as from data from the National… Read the full story
