Being tall, slim and blonde has a certain traction online.

Being tall, slim, blonde and naked, however, can take your market appeal to the next level.

So it’s no wonder that one Dutch traveller has become such a hit on Instagram.

Sterre, 21,  is travelling around Australia naked in a bid to prove that ‘being nude is not sexual or weird’.

a.naked.girl poses by pools, on rocks, beaches and in woodland clearings completely in the buff, with only her bikini tan lines and a hat or rucksack as accessories.

And needless to say, they’re going down a storm.

Scientists have discovered why we all love carbs so damn much

Few foods can make you feel as warm and happy as a big bowl of pasta.

Or a few thick slices of warm bread smothered in creamy butter.

Carbs are life.

Trying to cut down on them during periods of inactivity can as hard as quitting a genuine addiction.

But it turns out that we’re actually designed to love carbs.

Because scientists from Deakin University in Australia claim that we’ve got a sixth tastes sense that might explain our love of pasta and bread.

The new study challenges the traditional idea that carb cravings are driven by sugar – claiming that some people can directly taste starch.

And those who are more sensitive to the taste often tend to have a larger waist circumference – which might explain why some people are more likely to be obese.

‘We specifically looked at waist measurements, as they are a good measure of the risk of… Read the full story

For obvious reasons, we’re talking a lot about consent at the moment.

And given that it’s a big topic, it seemed like a sensible time to raise a question that I’ve been wondering about for a while. Sleep sex.

I’ve written before about how I don’t think that people who commit sex crimes are always inherently evil – that they’re sometimes fundamentally decent people who’ve been under-educated about what consent means, and who become victims of that lack of information when they hurt another person.

Could sleep sex be a part of this?

How to tell when going to the gym turns into an addiction

When I stopped listening to music outside the gym, I knew that my fitness regime had turned from an innocent hobby into something a bit more, well, obsessive.

That wasn’t the first or only sign that I had become addicted to fitness.

There was the frustration at missing a session if I had other obligations. The time I was secretly relieved I missed my train to see my friend in Sheffield and had the whole day stretched out to go to the gym. Getting restless waiting on Monday mornings for the email from the gym which tracked my total number of movements and calorie loss – not to mention… Read the full story

Tearfulness, anxiety, loss of or increased appetite, exhaustion, lack of motivation and irritability are all symptoms of sleep-deprivation.

They are also symptoms of depression.

Hence the reason why so many cases of postnatal depression go undiagnosed.

The mother often believes she is just totally and utterly shattered and that she’d be fine if she could JUST GET SOME BLOODY SLEEP!

I was that mother.

I felt awful after I had my first baby but she woke up at least every half an hour during the night so I was convinced I was just really bloody tired.

I was bound to feel low, living on so little sleep, right?

People kept telling me I… Read the full story

Being a parent is, as far as I can tell, a case of trying to keep small people alive, while being judged on how well you do that.

And one of the most favourite types of judgement?

Whether you stay at home or whether you go out to work.

Working parents are obviously feckless, cold hearted and don’t love their children. They’re purely ticking a box by breeding and if they’re honest they’d rather be at the office than parents evening.

Ghouls, ghosts, things that go bump in the night.

They’re not really real, though.

Why do we celebrate Halloween and where does Halloween come from?

Are they?

Some people’s experiences, from haunted houseshares to phantom footsteps, might hint otherwise.

In the run-up to Halloween, I asked people to tell me the creepy tales that they can’t explain.

If your go-to Mcdonald’s food of choice is the Filet-O-Fish, you might want to check you’ve got an extra 5 minutes to wait around for it – otherwise you may risk eating one that’s been left aside for hours.

According to a Reddit post in which users came forth to reveal which restaurant chain’s food they should avoid ordering and why, the Filet-O-Fish is a big no-no unless it’s been freshly cooked.

User Exiled-Biblu explained that when it comes to McDonald’s, you should be prepared to wait around for the fish-filled burger.

They wrote: ‘At McDonald’s just say you want a fish filet cooked to order. It will take ~5 more minutes… Read the full story

Most people would agree that of all the candy options out there, liquorice comes pretty low on the rankings.

Would anyone rather pick up a bag of Liquorice Allsorts than a bag of Haribo GoldBears? Is that one person you’re thinking of your mum?

For those lone liquorice lovers, we have some bad news.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning about your favourite bitter black sweet, urging those who are older than 40 to limit how much liquorice they shovel into their mouths this Halloween.

The FDA has advised those who are 40 or older to limit their black liquorice intake to a maximum of 56g – that’s around three… Read the full story

Big on flavour but not convention, Baltimore is just the sort of foodie destination WORTH writing about.

Edgar Allen Poe, John Waters, David Simon, Ira Glass: Baltimore, Maryland has spawned and inspired some of America’s greatest storytellers.

Route 66 – Chicago, Illinois: Where to eat, what to see and what to do

Even the country’s National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, was penned by Baltimorean Francis Scott Key – and was written as a poem about an especially wild night out on Baltimore’s harbor as much as it was to be a theme song for overt American pride.

Some might say there’s something in Baltimore’s water making people there so creative and keen to tell a tale. But I reckon it’s in the food.

Or at least I discovered delicious revelation in the dining I did during a week of munching my way through this historic hub of East Coast eccentricity.

Yes, we do see you making eyes at the HR person a few desks over. Stop it.

But if you and your workplace crush were going to hook up, now’s when it’s most likely to happen.

According to new research from Reboot Digital, colleagues are most likely to get romantic (or sexual) in the winter months. We blame the heady mix of mulled wine and excellent knitwear choices.

Researchers spoke to 2,017 professionals about their work-based love lives, and discovered that colleagues are twice as likely to get together in the winter months. 66% of those who’d had workplace romances said they’d began during winter.
