I’ve been getting sick progressively over the past week.

I felt it come on last Monday…and felt it escalating after someone sneezed in my face on Tuesday and by Friday, I was bed bound.

All the way through, however, I kept on training – and training hard.

After all, them gains ain’t gonna get themselves.

I’ve always believed that sweating a bug out is the best way to rid an illness but it looks like I’m wrong. Continuing to hammer the weights probably contributed to what can only be described as full-on man flu.

At least Justin Maguire from body transformation company, the Gamma Project, thinks so.

Office kitchens are gross.

People always leave their dirty mugs and plates on the surfaces. They leave their cafetiere slop in the sink. They don’t wipe up spilt milk.

But it turns out that possibly the most minging thing about communal kitchens is the stash of office teabags.

The average bacterial reading of an office teabag is 3,785 – compared to only 220 for a toilet seat.

According to a study carried out by the Initial Washroom Hygiene, other mega-grim items include kettle handles (2,483), rims of used mugs (1,746) and fridge door handles (1,592).

Oh God, so much bacteria everywhere.

Have you spent the last few nights tossing and turning?

Well, congrats. You’ve got years of rubbish sleep to get through, but then, finally, you should be able to get some rest. Who needs sleep now, when you’re trying to get stuff done? You can catch up on your sleep in a few decades.

A new study has found that when people retire, their sleep difficulties tend to diminish.

It’s thought that this is because post-retirement we’re no longer worrying about work, meaning we’re not kept up at night by the Sunday scaries.

Research analysed survey data from 5,800 Finnish public sector employees who retired between 2000 and 2011.… Read the full story

Having older brothers could increase the possibility of being gay, a new study has found.

Professor Tony Bogaert, a researcher specialising in human sexuality at Brock University, and his team looked into birth order to see if it shaped sexuality.

Termed the ‘fraternal birth order effect’, the study found several factors that could determine the sexuality of males.

Published in the journal PNAS, the researchers say a protein associated with a Y chromosome called NLGN4Y is crucial to male brain development and attraction towards a partner.

And as a woman gets pregnant with her first son, the Y chromosome associated protein is produced and leaks into her bloodstream.

You might think that ladz are born to be free and single – and that it’s women who do all the chasing in a bid to settle down.

One of the biggest lies we were ever told was that acne was just for teenagers.

We truly believed that the second we hit our twenties, our skin would be as smooth and poreless as a model in a foundation ad.

The truth is, acne can happen to anyone. You can deal with it well into your thirties, no matter how great at skincare you are, how healthily you eat, or how many posh facials you go for.

Even dermatologists, the people you trust for delivering the best skin results possible, can struggle with adult acne – and that’s with a wealth of treatments available.

It was only recently that I realised we’re properly heading into the winter months.

I had disregarded that the mornings were darker, the temperature colder, and that my need for hot chocolate with whipped cream had increased.

I have bipolar disorder, and for the past few weeks, I’ve been feeling pretty down.

There have been nights when I’ve felt like the whole world was crumbling down on top of me. Days I haven’t wanted to leave my bed, and evenings I’ve spent hours crying over silly things.
