If you’re still getting your mind around YSL’s rebranding under Hedi Slimane, there’s more change afoot.

Because fashion’s enfant terrible has announced that he’s leaving the brand to take over Céline.

He’ll be joining the Parisian house on 1 February but won’t present his first collection until the SS19 shows in September.

Assuming the rather bombastic title of Artistic, Creative and Image Director of the brand, Slimane is set to have full ownership over the brand’s campaigns, as well as its clothes.

And just as he did at YSL when he transformed the label into Saint Laurent, Slimane is going to be making some pretty major changes at Céline – notably, the inclusion of a… Read the full story

Online dating can be spectacularly superficial.

All you’ve got to go off is someone’s highly edited holiday snaps and a 140-character bio – you’ve just got enough time to see if you like the look of your potential date before deciding whether to dive in or swerve.

So it’s up to you to reel people in with a solid pitch.

And what does a successful one involve? According to online dating service Zoosk, mentioning that you do Pilates.

Yep, in what is possibly the most predictable thing ever, everyone wants to hook up with someone who’s super bendy and got a set of rock solid abs.

Zoosk surveyed over 7,000… Read the full story

Loads of young women are avoiding smear tests because they’re ashamed of their bodies, a new study has concluded.

A third of the 2,017 British women surveyed by Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust says that awkwardness – both around general body image and the appearance or smell of their vagina – has put them off getting a test.

And that’s absolute madness, considering that these examinations can prevent 75% of cervical cancers.

To quote every woman who’s ever had a baby: doctors and nurses have seen it all before.

They’ve literally trained for years in order to examine your cervix and they don’t care whether you’ve had a wax or wash (although that would be nice –… Read the full story

Smear tests can save lives by detecting abnormal cells which could indicate the presence of cancer cells – yet one in four women are not attending their appointments when invited by their GP.

Now better known as Cervical Screening Tests, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust estimates that a smear test can prevent 75% of cervical cancers from developing.

While cervical cancer is still relatively rare, it is crucial symptoms are caught early to make sure effective treatment can be given.

Around five million women are invited to a smear test every year and while it is personal choice to attend, it can save lives. It really is… Read the full story

The internet is awash with right-wing trolls.

You try not to pay them attention but sometimes, they can just get to you. Who are these keyboard tw*ts who go out of their way to make your life a misery?

Imagine being that attention-seeking, that you literally have to bark at strangers on the internet for your kicks.

If they went outside occasionally for a run around the park, they’d have less energy to attack folk online.

For dogs are needy creatures. They can’t just be ignored or they’ll start whining and crashing into furniture.

And that’s when they start turning into far-right activists.

Just look at the Twitter account @RacistPets, who are calling… Read the full story

2018 is the year we’re all going to wake up to what monsters we are, I feel it in my bones.

When you’ve got a climate change denier running the United States at the same time as scientists telling us there’ll be more plastic than fish in the sea by 2050, you know you’ve got to take matters into your own hands.

What draws young men to sex workers? (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

A couple of weeks ago, I sent out a call on Twitter asking people to tell me why they paid for sex.

A few things happened…

First of all, I received quite a few emails from chaps who were more than willing to let me know why they visited sex-workers, and used them in all their varieties (on the phone, webcams and in person).

Interracial relationships might seem like a relatively new phenomenon but you know, swirl love has been around since folk first started moving around the earth.

Slavery and imperial attitudes, however, were responsible for making it taboo for centuries.

In fact, interracial marriage has only been legal across the US since 1967.

Even though slavery was abolished in 1865, anti-miscegenation laws were put in place for years, criminalising any sexual relations and cohabitation between whites and non-whites.

Back in the 50s, the American public was vehemently against interracial relationships, with just 5% of the population approving of the practice. By the 2000s, that approval rating had risen to around 80%.

Helen Heagren, 52, has now framed the ‘big knickers’ she had to buy when she was at her most swollen.

Hanging proudly at her home in Romford, Essex – alongside a photo of her distended stomach – the teaching assistant  says the huge undies remind her to stay positive as she battles incurable ovarian cancer.

Before she was diagnosed, doctors had to drain 17 litres of fluid from her stomach to perform a biopsy.

A disabled dachshund has been given a set of skis, so she can still get about in the snow.

Susan Freeman created the skis for her precious pooch Molly, when she suffered from intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) back in 2015.

According to Pet MD, IVDD is a condition where the cushioning discs between the vertebrae of the spinal column either bulge or burst into the spinal cord space.

The discs then press on the nerves that run through the spinal cord, causing pain and… Read the full story

We’re in the grip of a revolution.

People – women and men – are uniting to speak up against sexual harassment. More and more of us are turning our backs on animal exploitation. Calling out racism is high on the media agenda.

As a result, we’re seeing a return to more analogue forms of protest.

Despite the fact that much of this starts online millennials are taking their anger, passion and amazingly good poster-making skills onto the street.

Just like our parents did in the 60s and 70s (if yours are kinda old like mine), we’re marching for our rights.
