Awkward (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Let’s face it, sex can be very embarrassing at times.

Although a major part of most people’s lives, the act of sex isn’t always so enjoyable and quite often involves unfortunate mishaps, awkward encounters and very uncomfortable scenarios.

Most of us wouldn’t dream of re-living some of our mortifying sexual experiences, let alone go into detail about them with others.

However, I spoke with three people who were brave enough to do precisely that, and here are their most embarrassing sex stories:

Thomas, 27

As a man in his twenties, I didn’t think the prospect of Read the full story

How to talk to a woman you don't know
(Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Ok, so it’s Friday afternoon and you’ve just spotted the most beautiful woman in the world buying a croissant (picture a cross between Rihanna and your childhood crush).

You know that if you don’t try to talk to her, you’ll regret it forever. But you’re also sick with nerves.

What should you do? Do you smile weakly from across the street, or do you scribble your phone number on a piece of paper and thrust it at her? Do you run in the opposite direction?

Relax. Take a deep breath. Take four more. Read on for some helpful tips… Read the full story

Meghan Markle pretty much always looks perfect.

Of course, she has a top glam squad to get it altogether.

The person responsible for her eyebrows chatted to Metro.co.uk about what it’s like giving a makeover to the possible Duchess of Sussex.

Sherrille Riley has a pretty impressive celebrity clientele, boasting the likes of other Royals like Princess Beatrice, and pop royalty Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, as well as Halle Barry. Clearly she knows what she’s doing.

She tells us how she first began providing the treatment to Meghan back in 2016, when the Canadian actress began spending more time in London to be with Prince Harry.

Upon which side does your penis hang when you’re wearing trousers?

It’s not a decision to be taken lightly.

But what if you throw a curveball into proceedings, and choose not to let your little (or big, sorry) buddy hang down on either side, but instead store it pointing upwards, towards your belly button?

That’s a solution proposed by a new pair of Japanese underwear being sold on Amazon.

The pants advertise ‘independent space’ for your penis, with breathable fabric and special designated sections for your shaft and balls.

Why is Parmesan cheese not vegetarian?

Why is it that Parmesan does not count as vegetarian when its just a cheese? (Picture: Getty)

Vegetarians across the land will know just how much it hurts to have to turn down Parmesan cheese, aka Parmigiano-Reggiano, in restaurants.

This hard Italian cheese (already the Antichrist to vegans, who don’t eat dairy) is not a vegetarian product, unlike the vast majority of world cheeses.

So why is it not vegetarian? And are there any similar-tasting alternatives that are vegetarian?

You didn’t seriously think the weird brow trends would end with sexy Shrek brows, did you?

Now we’ve got pencil brows.

Not the thin pencil-drawn brows you still have nightmares about from the early noughties, but brows drawn on to look like tiny pencils.

Why? We honestly can’t answer that. There is no rhyme or reason to what people are doing to their brows these days. They’re not supposed to look good, or actually be something you could pull off every day. They’re just a way to explore the furthest reaches of brow-based creativity.

It’s best to just roll with it rather than questioning things.

If you’ve been glugging bottles of red wine every night in the hope of improving your cardiovascular health, you might want to take a seat.

Because surprise, surprise, red wine might not actually have the medicinal properties we all thought it did.

A dietician from the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Hilary Powlesland, says that although the stuff might be loaded with antioxidants which may contribute to reducing heart disease, wine itself isn’t a great source for heart health.

But that’s not to say that having the odd glass is harmful in any way.

‘We all love a wine or two and there’s nothing wrong with including it in a balanced diet, but you certainly shouldn’t… Read the full story

Why you shouldn't be scared to ask someone to stop eating something that will kill you
(Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

It’s eternally baffling to me that people cannot go few hours without eating peanuts.

In any other situation I can ask a fellow human being to stop consuming something that could kill me, and usually they will do so quickly and apologetically.

But when you’re travelling at 30,000 feet in a metal box, asking the same thing becomes unacceptable.

This week is Allergy Awareness week and a survey by charity Allergy UK found that more than a third of people with allergies had poor experiences when flying.

I’m not surprised.

Sian Docksey is a cross between an excited puppy and a rhubarb and custard sweetie. We managed to peel her off the walls for a chat about the comedy night she runs with 56 Dean Street sexual health clinic.

‘Sextroverts’ is burgeoning comedy night in London that invites everyone of any persuasion to come and do a set about their experiences in an open space; be they LQBTQ, sex workers, health workers or even anyone just left of ‘Vanilla’, and we wanted to know what she’d learnt from it as well as her life as ‘a wide-eyed baby-queer’.

It’s fair to say we all took a journey together.

Climbing onto the Sian train meant a minor stop at chemsex before zooming down the tracks of Queerness, a pit stop at bisexuality politics, a ride over the mountains of freedom of expression, before pulling into what it takes to team up with comedians to promote safe sex.

When you’re getting married, you don’t want anything to disrupt proceedings.

You can ban kids and plus ones. You can ask people avoid wearing white. You can put unfavourable guests on far-flung tables.

But is it reasonable to demand people take hay fever medication to avoid them from sneezing mid-ceremony?

That’s a question being asked on Mumsnet after a mum revealed that a couple had asked their guests to take antihistamines before turning up to their nuptials.

She wrote: ‘”Please remember to take some piriton before arriving. The pollen count will be high and the last thing I want is sneezing during the ceremony”. Paraphrased but similar tone.’

Srirachas are a new yoga pant that are semi-crotchless.

Yummy and traditional Anzac biscuits are simple to make and require few ingredients… so lets see how it’s done (Picture: Getty)

Anzac biscuits are a yummy treat eaten on April 25 (Anzac Day) to commemorate the sacrifices of soldiers from New Zealand and Australia in wars.

The same biscuits were thought to have been sent to these soldiers during the First World War and onwards, making an ideal snack for them because of their long-lasting shelf life.

Simple to make, delicious and versatile, these biscuits require porridge oats, dessicated coconut and golden syrup, as well as the usual baking ingredients.

So how are they made?

When you’re planning on leaving your beloved puss with a cat-sitter, you need to make sure that they have all the relevant info to keep your baby in the comfort they’ve grown accustomed to.

One proud cat mum wanted to make sure that her four cats got the best care possible, so left detailed descriptions of each out for the pet-sitter.

Each bio came illustrated with photographs, and included everything from their eating habits to their preferred hiding places.

After years of battling chronic Lyme disease, Chantelle Lewis claims to have finally found relief.

The 33-year-old has spent over £80,000 on treatments for her infections and has had to dramatically adapt her diet to help manage the illness.

But Chantelle has found that using a turmeric oral spray alleviates the symptoms.

There’s no current cure for Lyme disease, so sufferers’ best hope is to go into remission.

‘Natural supplements have become a huge part of my treatment protocol since falling unwell, especially as the antibiotics I have to take create problems of their own,’ she says.

‘I have on-going inflammation throughout my body from my joints to my bladder, and being allergic to anti-inflammatory painkillers,… Read the full story

Is acne causing your depression? Here’s what to do about it

$

I’ve had social anxiety for as long as I can remember, depression since I was about 15, and acne since I was 21.

The acne ebbs and flows between mild and severe, but it’s always there. At its best, I’ll have one spot and a face full of scarring. At its worst, my cheeks are covered in painful, itchy cystic acne.

Even with (non-comedogenic) makeup slathered on top, you can still tell it’s there.

Years ago, when I was quite new to acne, a ‘friend’ was drunk at a party and told me I wore too much makeup and that it made my skin look even worse. Needless to say, it ruined my night and completely destroyed my confidence.

Intimacy is a definite issue. The only relationships I’ve had in recent years are with guys I’ve met while backpacking, where I wasn’t wearing makeup when they met me, so they knew what my skin was like from the off.

At one point, I stopped making eye contact… Read the full story
