A disabled woman has slammed a Topshop store after they filled up their accessible changing room with sale stock, leaving 32-year-old Nina Grant, who uses a wheelchair, without a suitable space to change.

Nina was angered when she claims a shop assistant stopped her heading to the designated fitting room and drew back a curtain to reveal it was rammed with items on clothing rails.

She says she was left trying to squeeze into a standard changing room in Topshop’s Palace Exchange branch in Enfield, London.

Nina says she was cramped and her wheelchair was left sticking out as she attempted to try on a top she liked.

An incredible organisation of volunteers lead by a recovered addict, is going around boosting the spirit of homeless people by giving them free haircuts.

Hairdresser Stewart Roberts, 56, knows only too well the issues facing people dealing with substance abuse and homelessness.

So in 2014, he set out to make a difference. He went down to the Salvation Army in Romford, bringing his scissors, and offered to trim whoever was waiting in line for a hot meal.

After a successful first session, other shelters soon started asking for Stewart to come and… Read the full story

The key to a long life isn’t money or genetics – it’s ‘relationships, relationships, relationships’

People have been looking for the secret to living a long life since the dawn of time – and now Harvard scientists might just have found it.

According to an 80-year study by the Ivy League university, having a network of strong relationships is the key to longevity.

‘The people who were most satisfied in their relationships at age 50 were the healthiest at age 80,’ says Robert Waldinger, director of the study and a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

The Harvard Second Generation Study began in 1938 when a team of researchers began tracking the lives and health of 268 male Harvard undergrads.

In the subsequent years, the study has expanded to include their wives, 465 Boston inner-city residents and their wives and 1,300 of the Harvard students’ offspring – who are now in their 50s and 60s.

Their health and lives were tracked in general, including successes and failures in careers and love,… Read the full story

Young renters are battling loneliness

Renters report feeling lonely more often than people who own their homes, a major study into loneliness has found.

This could be down to a number of reasons, including age, financial instability, and a lack of connection with the community.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that 61% of young renters reported feeling lonely occasionally, often, or always, versus 46% of the overall sample.

This link is especially strong for those who rent a home and live alone, as those living with a partner were significantly more likely to report feeling lonely ‘hardly ever’ or ‘never’.

The ONS points to a few potential reasons for the connection… Read the full story

Tesco has just started selling mega boxes of 100 Jaffa Cakes for next to nothing, and we’re so ready to head down to our local store ASAP.

The Jaffa Cakes are available in boxes of 100 and are being sold for just £1.

ONE POUND FOR 100 JAFFA CAKES, PEOPLE.

Just to further reiterate how amazing that is – that’s technically 1p per cake (or biscuit, but we’ll save that argument for another day).

Normally, standard packets of 10 Jaffa Cakes retail at £1, so a quid for 100 is a total bargain.

But not for one Craigslist-er.

They stuck a brutally honest ad for their mega crusty old 1999 Toyota Corolla on the website and now he’s got almost 290k people offering to buy it.

Craigslist is a goldmine of random and often disturbing posts, but this one is a masterpiece of effective advertising.

Being sold for £1,792, the car’s ad reads: ‘You want a car that gets the job done? You want a car that’s hassle free? You want a car that literally no one will ever compliment you on? Wel, look no further’.

The ad then goes into the finer details.

The American Kennel Club has released its annual list of the most popular dog breeds in the US and the Labrador Retriever has come out on top.

For the 27th year in a row.

The top three dogs are Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd and Golden Retriever.

So why do people love Labradors so much?

According to the American Kennel Club, they’re friendly, active and outgoing (gosh, sounds like your average Bumble dating profile) and are: ‘sweet-faced…high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around for a family looking for a medium-to-large dog’.

They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years, which is a solid amount… Read the full story

What I learned from being the only girl traveling with four guys

It’s not about where you go, it’s who you’re with.

So when you’re with four very different lads lads, whose friendships are cemented by their interest in sports, games, and well, girls, it’s not hard to be the odd one out.

I went to a luxury holiday resort to Turkey with my guy friends from college, whom I hadn’t seen for six years, bar one. It was a random reunion, just 2,000 miles away and under a whole new climate.

After being added to their annual gentleman’s retreat group chat on Whatsapp (an honour, they liked to remind me), I became the organiser, booking the flights and hotel, which, to… Read the full story

It’s also been coined this year’s must-have label by fashion bloggers Who What Wear. On a recent blog, they said: ‘The one-size-fits-all bikinis and swimsuits all come in a distinctive crinkle-stretch fabric, which is hugely flattering because it stretches to mould to your body.’

Do you struggle to resist a 3pm sugar hit? Are you unable to say ‘no’ to wine? Are you sick of being weak-willed?

If the answer’s yes, then fear not because a company wants to convince you that electrocuting yourself is a way to get thin.

Yep, sort of like a cattle prod, someone’s come up with an aversion-therapy wearable gadget that promises to shock you into breaking your bad food habits (and your soul).

A hilarious video shows Natalie Fletcher, 22, struggling to remove some £5 veneers she’d bought from eBay.

Natalie’s 25-year-old sister Sarah filmed her trying to get the veneers out of her mouth, which eventually snapped off but left the mould inside her mouth.

Both sisters were laughing hysterically throughout the process as their mum watched in the background.

Natalie, from Abergele, North Wales, wanted ‘secret veneers’ to have whiter teeth, but didn’t want to pay the £500 she thought it would cost.

However, it seems £5 veneers probably weren’t a great… Read the full story

There’s nothing quite like the running community to make you feel a part of something awesome.

Running alone can make you realise just how awesome your body is; running as part of a community is truly life-affirming – you only have to watch the London Marathon to see that.

And now there’s concrete data to prove it.

A new university study of over 8,000 runners has found that 89% of them say that parkrun has made them happier and 83% were more motivated to exercise because of Strava and its community.

Both communities have been found to have an overwhelmingly positive impact on mental health, with runners reporting as… Read the full story

Wine is a very popular alcoholic bevvy but what does it do to your waistline? (Picture: Getty)

No sun-soaked afternoon is complete without a glass of wine – unless you’re teetotal, of course.

And while we don’t get a great lot of vineyard-worthy weather in the UK, that doesn’t stop us knocking wine back like it’s an elixir of immortality.

But in this increasingly health-obsessed society, the question of how good wine actually is for us (aside from the fact it’s alcohol) is coming up more and more.

So how many calories are there in wine? Does it vary? And which kind of wine has the most calories in it?
