Rejoice hipsters and men with weak jawlines: There’s another reason to cling on to your facial hair for dear life.

We need to talk about alcoholism and depression

According to a study from The University of Queensland, beards can protect the wearer of said beard from 90-95% of harmful UV rays.

That’s why you rarely get a sunburn under that mound of facial hair.

That means beards can help to prevent skin cancer on a small portion of your face… which means the rest of your skin is still at risk, just as a warning.

‘While beards will never be as sun-safe… Read the full story

There was that time they employed reindeer, which they then had to fire. There was DRU, the pizza-delivering robot. Once upon a time, Domino’s even offered to deliver via canoe.

This time around, Domino’s is trying out self-driving cars as the new method of getting pizza from stores to people’s homes.

There’s certain things you’re expected to do for your best friend.

Be there as a shoulder to cry on when they’re having a tough time. Offer them advice when they need it and of course, become a secondary author of their most important text messages.

But you know what’s not expected of you? Or even okay for you to do? Slating your best friend’s partner.

We get it, sometimes it’s hard to keep your mouth shut when your friend’s in an argument with their other half. They’re upset and talking negatively about their relationship and all you want to do is back them up by joining in on the slagging… Read the full story

18 reasons every man wants to be the barbecue king

In the past few days we’ve discovered supermarket sausages with free hepatitis, and two weeks ago supermarkets scrambled to recall three-quarters-of-a million eggs.

So what’s safe – and what isn’t?

We asked the Food Standards Agency to help us sort food fact from fiction.

‘Manners maketh the man’ – apparently. Well, I’m about to get potty mouthed and show my true fashion colours.

I love shoes. I’m a male shoe whore, a total shoe slut.

Sure, these sushi shoes are unhygienic – but they’re also incredibly fascinating

I don’t care who knows or what people think because they are just shoes, just things that happen to be on my feet. And I doubt you’ll get corns because of my footwear choices.

The question is, do I need permission to wear heels?

Let me set the scene.

Instagram can be deceiving.

That’s a message blogger, presenter, and fitness trainer Chessie King is keen to spread.

While yes, she is super toned with a trim bod, she doesn’t always look as picture perfect as she does in photos plastered all over her social media.

Having a beard could be good for your health

That’s because no one looks perfect 24/7. Bodies have rolls, there are unflattering angles and bad lighting, our legs squish outwards when we sit and our tummies fold when our posture’s terrible.

That’s normal. It’s okay.

We should know this by now, but when we scroll through countless ~flawless~ bodies on… Read the full story

Why I failed every single diet I went on

0

As much as I dislike stereotypes, the person sat at their desk politely declining sweet treats because ‘I’m on a diet’ is one we’ve all seen.

That person was me for years, and every time I was on a diet, it never worked out.

We see it all the time in magazines, plastered across articles online – ‘Girl loses HALF HER BODYWEIGHT after making one simple change’.

Why did I let myself get so overweight?

Those of us who read these articles are often struggling with the exact same problems. In fact, we’re probably sat reading it over a bowl of sweets (guilty) and thinking ‘that’s a great idea. Starting tomorrow – may as well finish this bowl of sugary goodness first – I will get right on the diet. Time for a new me!’

Then we strip our cupboards of all our favourite foods, sit down in front of… Read the full story

It’s always been the assumption that looking at an endless stream of super slim women isn’t doing wonders for our self-esteem.

But now there’s some more cold, hard evidence that the types of women we see in the media are shaping the way we view our own bodies – and it can change the way we think about beauty in the space of 15 minutes.

Hand jobs are awesome (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

The humble hand job doesn’t always get a good press.

A lot of women are nervous about giving them, they lack the cultural cache of their oral counterpart, and they’re rarely more than an afterthought in most mainstream sex columns, overshadowed in glitz and erotic glamour by the latest in an endless line of new kinks on the block.

5 reasons why facesitting will turn a guy on

Needless to say, I love them. Hand jobs are awesome – just not for the reasons you think they’re awesome. We’ll come to that a bit later.

Well, this is a bit weird.

In the midst of trying to free the nipple, apparently there are children’s books out there declaring that we’re all wrong about breasts and nipples not being a big deal. Instead, they claim, part of the very function of breasts is to ensure girls are attractive.

We’re all about embracing your inner snake.

The sample sizes are often too small to take them seriously, and they’re sometimes commissioned by companies with ulterior motives.

However, this recent study from Canada’s McMaster university made us sit up and listen, thanks to its huge sample size and declaration that low-fat diets could actually be bad for you.
