A new book makes historic works of art accessible to everyone in the best possible way.
Back in 2011, art blogger Jeff Hamada asked the internet to recreate their favourite paintings through contemporary photographs.
No one expected the incredible response – hundreds of people got involved by stepping into paintings and making them their own.
Amazingly, non-professional artists from all walks of life joined in, each adding their own unique spin.
In some of the photos, the chosen painting has been painstakingly recreated to match the original – the attention to detail is simply astonishing.
Other interpretations are quirky and entertaining. Gracing the cover is a gender bending version of ‘La Grand Odalisque’, where a man playfully replaces the breast with an orange.
