A survey of 500 teachers by TES magazine has determined the 20 books everyone should have read by the time they leave school.

They are separated by Harper Lee’s tale of racial inequality in the American Deep South (and now Go Set A Watchman prequel) To Kill A Mockingbird.
Lord of the Flies in fourth place and Of Mice and Men in fifth, both beat JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books.
