A YouTube video of model vlogger Ruth Crilly giving a makeup tutorial has been banned for not making it clear it was an ad for Proctor & Gamble products.
The online tutorial was banned after another beauty and style blogger realised that the Beauty Recommended YouTube channel – where vloggers demo makeup products on screen – was owned by Procter & Gamble, and complained the video wasn’t clearly identified as an ad.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that consumers would not be aware that the film of a model vlogger discussing Max Factor products, and other brands, was an ad rather than an impartial review.
