In 2010, Chris Norton’s life changed for ever.
He was injured in his senior year, at a football game on October 16, 2010. He suffered a spinal injury so severe doctors feared he wouldn’t walk again.
He was given a 3 per cent chance of ever regaining any movement below his neck. He needed help just to breathe.
Yesterday, the 23-year-old from Iowa walked across the stage at graduation to collect his diploma, with the help of his new fiancee Emily (he proposed the day before – it’s been quite a week).
Chris defied the odds every step of the way, inspiring others with his determination and faith that he would overcome his injuries. He undertook over four years of intense, daily therapy sessions.
