Misophonia literally means ‘hatred of sound’.
Sufferers have an adverse reaction to specific noises or sounds, known as ‘triggers’.
These can be things like eating noises (slurping, chewing, sucking), whistling, heels clacking on pavements, sniffling, or loud typing.
