Harnaam Kaur, was just 11-years-old when she first began to grow a beard as a result of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition which can cause excessive hair growth.
Throughout her teens, she was relentlessly bullied at school because of her excessive body hair, which grew on her face, chest and arms. She contemplated suicide at the age of 16.
Thirteen years later, after being baptised as a Sikh – the religion prohibits the cutting of body hair – she has come to terms with her condition. She now works as a body activist, helping inspire confidence in others.
