A food blogger has been fined £8,000 for their fake restaurant review

If you’re going to write a fake restaurant review, you should probably wait until after the restaurant has actually opened.

Just an idea.

One French food blogger thought they’d get the first review in and left their scathing thoughts about Loiseau Des Ducs, five days before the restaurant was open to the public.

On July 11, 2013, he wrote on the French version of the Yellow Pages: ‘Very overrated, it was all show and there was very little on the plate. The only plate that was well-loaded was the one with the bill.’

In the restaurant’s defence, it’s very hard to put a lot on a plate that doesn’t yet exist.

The restaurant wasn’t best pleased and sued the reviewer known by the username ‘The Clarifier’.
