When I read that M16 are looking to recruit mothers as female intelligence officers, placing ads with Mumsnet, I was not surprised.
Mums are perfectly placed to fill this role. Many of the skills we acquire in parenthood would make us fantastic Jane Bonds…
Here are just a few of a mother’s transferable skills:
They are masters of manipulation
Bribery is a mum’s most valuable tool. ‘One more spoonful and you can have a biscuit.’ Reverse psychology is also useful. ‘I bet you can’t get your shoes on in five seconds!’
And then of course there are masterfully told lies. ‘The TV has broken, so we can’t watch Topsy and Tim today.’
