I never thought that I would write this – but breaking a bone in my foot has given me a real epiphany. Beyond the lesson that one should never take their big toe for granted, I have really had it hit home how little it takes for you to struggle in the mean old world out there.
Escaping the hospital after a three hour stretch with a hastily wrapped bandage, a shitload of painkillers and a sympathetic suggestion that I just have to rest, I hobbled onto a bus with a great struggle.
