Pennies seem like the most rubbish form of currency – even ‘penny’ sweets cost at least two pence these days.
And Ireland, after testing the idea, have rolled out plans to get rid of one and two cent pieces altogether.
It shows most of us couldn’t care less when we lose them in the cracks of pavements and down the side of sofas.
But really we should all be as thrifty as Otha Anders, who proved that every penny actually does count when he cashed in his collection of pennies he’d saved over the last 45 years.
