Fancy a cold (plastic) glass of beer with your burger?
Unlike the brave new world of mainland Europe, the UK has never before allowed a fast food chain to serve alcohol. It’s like they don’t trust us or something.
Until now, that is.
Burger King has just won a drinks licence for its restaurant in Bury St Edmunds (where else?), and has applied for three more at its Newcastle-under-Lyme, Blackpool and Hull branches.
The chain initially applied for a licence allowing them to serve alcohol seven days a week from 10am to 11pm, but the proposition was strongly opposed by police.
