For kids today Christmas begins when the Red Cups appear and the John Lewis ad is aired.

They wouldn’t have lived a December 25th without Snapchatting festive emojis to their mates and Instagramming photos of their presents, they only understand Christmas jumpers as ironic expressions and they’ve probably not been forced to sit through a Queen’s Speech.

But parents who wish to look back to a simpler time might want their kids to know just how simple that time was – a time before camera phones, social media and Harry Potter.
