It’s not everyday a customer actually thanks a store for closing down for a day. Especially not when other stores are competing with one another to get the most people through the door for their Boxing Day sales.
Indeed, many stores decided to open their doors on Boxing Day to begin the January sales as soon as possible as they could after Christmas day.
But John Lewis remained closed, allowing their employees to enjoy one more day of festive freedom.
