Anxiety sucks. It has the uniquely horrible ability to make you feel like you’re losing your mind and like you’re just being dramatic at the same time. It makes the tiniest, silliest things terrifying. It interrupts your day with some super fun heart-pounding.
But hey. Let’s try to look on the bright side – as near-impossible as that is. Because a new study suggests that being anxious may have an expected benefit for your daily life.
The study, published in eLife, found that those with anxiety may be better at detecting negative emotions in others, and reacting to threatening situations as a result.
