Costa, the UK’s biggest coffee chain, now does a vegan cake.
The Fruity Crumble, which is also gluten free, comes stamped with an official Vegan Trademark and is filled with plum jam, cranberries and sultanas.
The base and topping are made from mostly oats, rice flour, margarine and sugar, instead of butter, and obviously contains no eggs.
The 302 calorie fruit cake is made by family-run bakery Bells of Lazonby, in the Lake District.
Costa has become the first coffee shop chain in the country to launch a product registered with The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark.
It’s hitting shelves at 2,000 stores nationwide from Thursday January 7 for £1.70.
