Boozing heavily is rapidly dying out, partly due to social media sites such as Instagram and Facebook, a new study suggests.
Exactly 5,000 beer drinkers between the ages of 21 and 35 were asked about their drinking habits.
Most respondents said they moderated the amount of alcohol they drank when on a night out. Over a third said they moderated every time they went out.
Surprisingly, 1 in 3 of the 5,000 people asked for the Heineken study admitted they had suffered ‘social shaming’ in the past, caused by being visibly drunk in a photo on social media.
Around 75 percent said they limited how much alcohol they drink because of the reach of social media – ie not wanting to post something they’ll most definitely regret in the morning.
