Want to add a little frisson to your 5pm G&T? How about the world’s first gin flavoured with ants?
Anty Gin (props for the name) is the invention of the Copenhagen-based Nordic Food Lab and the world’s first gin tailor, The Cambridge Distillery.
The Cambridge Distillery’s Will Lowe collected over six thousand red wood ants and used them to flavour his unique offering.
Each £200, 700ml, bottle of Anty Gin contains the essence of 62 ants. To be very exact.
The point of the gin, Will explains, is to ‘open people’s eyes to the possibility of insects being used as a viable source of food and flavour.’
