Cannes Film Festival organisers are facing a massive backlash after turning women away from the red carpet because they weren’t wearing high heels.
According to Screen Magazine, a handful of women in their 50s – some with medical conditions – were turned away from the red carpet screening of Cate Blanchett’s pro-LGBT film Carol on Sunday night because they were wearing rhinestone flats, instead of heels.
Ironically, the film, which follows the romance between an older and younger woman, is all about acceptance, and has a strong feminist message.
