Rick Owens courted controversy last season with his seminal ‘visible penis’ collection, but, this time round, he’s had controversy thrust upon him.
Halfway through his spring/summer 2016 menswear collection in Paris today, one of his models – known as Jera – unfurled a small protest banner, which read: ‘Please kill Angela Merkel. Not.’
Throwback Wayne’s World disclaimer aside, the designer was reportedly furious at the model, described as his ‘muse’ by GQ, for using his catwalk as a political platform.
According to WWD, Owens told them: ‘It’s a crazy, rogue, f***ing model that I punched when he came back out.’
He added: ‘Please say that I punched him.’
