Asos isn’t a stranger to designing mad, bad and ridiculous items.

Remember those horrific bare bum jeans? Or the massive trousers it tried to pass off as a jumpsuit?

But the online fashion giant has outdone itself in the very-bad-idea-who-signed-off-on-this design department, with a belt choker.

Yep, Asos is selling a neck accessory…in the form of a belt.

Oh, and Just in case you didn’t find that offensive, the model advertising it is wearing a t-shirt saying ‘Hanger’.

OH GOD.

It’s being sold for £45, comes in red and black and is called the Hanger Latex Flame Choker.

And you know what? People were pissed off about it.

Because,… Read the full story

Sex education is always a contentious issue.

Whether it’s deciding whether to teach your kids about masturbation, or schools determining whether to hold contraceptive classes, it can all be a bit uncomfortable.

After all, most of us agree that children shouldn’t be unnecessarily exposed to sex.

But one French porn star disagrees.

She wants parents to better educate their sons about sex so they stop contacting her with inappropriate messages.

Nikita Belluci has taken to Twitter to say that she’s sick of receiving sexual messages from boys as young as 12 – and says that she believes parents’ rolls to teach them how to behave so that they don’t search out X-rated… Read the full story

So, you’ve always dreamed of being a mermaid.

You may be an earth dweller, but you know you’d make Ariel look like an amateur if you had your time underwater.

But before you invest in a tail and a sea-shell bra, you might want to make sure that your swimming skills are near-professional.

Because the Royal Life Saving Society of Western Australia (RLSSWA) has found that mermaid fins can hinder a kid’s ability to swim by up to 70%, while the tail reduces it by 60%.

The RLSSWA compared the swimming performance of 25 kids aged between two and 12 before and after they wore the fishy accessories.

And they found that although 75%… Read the full story

Body image is a complex thing.

We all want to be body positive but it’s hard – particularly when you’re surrounded by so much body image-related content online.

So it makes sense that perhaps the best way of improving body image might be getting away from social media and heading outside.

New research led by Anglia Ruskin University has found that green spaces have a powerful effect on promoting positive body image – and you don’t even have to step outside to reap the benefits.

In three studies, university students were shown photographs of both natural and built-up environments, with results concluding that the… Read the full story

The Starbucks siren is possibly one of the most well-known logos in the world.

Wherever you are, if you catch sight of her wavy locks and fishy tail, you know caffeine is close – and what a wonderfully soothing thought that is.

Maybe it’s the fact that she looks so beautifully symmetrical.

But you know what? She actually isn’t. In fact, her features have been purposely designed not to be perfect.

The global branding team at Lippincott were staring at a picture of her seven years ago when they concluded that she just wasn’t working.

They’d been brought in to redesign the siren after Starbucks decided to make her the focal point of their logo.… Read the full story

White wedding vs my feminism…hm (Picture: Getty)

Let’s be clear: most weddings are a glorified gala of patrimony.

Can marriage save a relationship? Why couples are putting a ring on it instead of breaking up

Take the bride’s attire – the white dress, a symbol of her purity.

A man leads her down the aisle then hands her over to another man as though she is a commodity to be traded – indeed, she once was. Then there are the speeches, traditionally made by men, and taking your husband’s last name. I could go on.

Every family’s got its traditions – but Kevin Fortey’s family has one which seems to be unbeatable.

For three generations, the Forteys have been growing giant veg which is so large that keep breaking records.

Kevin’s been growing massive squashes and cabbages since he was just four-years-old, when his late father Mike started the giant veg movement at his local pub back in the early 1980s.

Mike came up with the idea of having a giant onion competition while shooting the breeze with his pals over a pint at the Mill Tavern pub in Cwmbran, South Wales.

So many folks were keen to compete that he then founded… Read the full story

It’s time to stop apologising for your veganism

Some vegans can be annoying.

Just like every single other group of humans on the planet, some plant-based eaters can be judgemental, preachy and a pain in the proverbial.

But because veganism requires such a lifestyle overhaul and an unpicking of what so many hold dear (like bacon), vegan evangelicism has led to many writing off the movement and its devotees altogether.

‘How do you know a vegan’s a vegan? Because they’ll tell you!’ is one of the most common and least original gags on the planet.

It’s understandable, of course.

Lots of vegans do like talking about veganism and will try to convince you to have a go at living that #plantbasedlife yourself.

Even within the community, some are guilty of trying to ‘out-vegan’ each other.

You accidentally ate honey yesterday? YOU BEE KILLING MONSTER. You drank Rude Health mylk? Don’t you know their CEO hates vegans?

Because of this, many of vegans – particularly those of us who don’t have many plant-based pals… Read the full story

There might be any number of discrete ways nowadays for women to buy sex toys, in 1992 things were a little different.

Before female-friendly toys were available, Kathryn Hoyle went shopping for one.

What she found, however, was alienating, intimidating and sleazy. The dark, dingy sex shops owned by porn barons, were all run by male staff – catering to male sexuality only.

Amidst the DVDs and scratchy panties, were the ‘toys’, each as phallic and graphically ‘realistic’ as the next, locked away in grubby glass cabinets.

Fellow customers followed her around, often standing too close for comfort.

Three months later, in April 1992, and on a budget of £700 and… Read the full story

Guys, it’s the SAG Awards!

Sadly, this is not a celebration of sagging skin (which is a party we’d definitely be keen on. Please can we hurry up and make ageing a thing to praise?), but instead the Screen Actors Guild Awards, a big event to hand very talented actors trophies.

Naturally, such a big event comes with big fashion moments.

The red carpet should be pretty interesting this year in light of the Time’s Up protest that took over the Golden Globes – will celebs stick to their guns and wear black at this event, too? Or will things go back to normal after a one-night protest.

Anyone who’s ever been to a Bikram yoga session will know that it’s bloody hard work.

The heat and smell alone can be enough to make you feel faint, let alone having to do any kind of physical movement.

They say that you can burn up to 716 calories in a 90-minute class, which is why so many of us go. It’s like running 10k but without feeling crippled the next day. And it’s also amazing how much further you feel your body is able to stretch when it’s working in 40’C.

But now it’s being suggested that hot yoga doesn’t actually carry many more benefits than doing yoga… Read the full story
