Increasing numbers of dads want to have access to paternity leave, a new study says.

According to a new report from Dove Men+Care and Promundo, more and more men would like to be involved in early months of their babies’ lives.

The findings come after it’s been revealed that 40% of new dads don’t take paternity leave at all.

And yet, two-thirds of fathers say that they’ve had to quit or would consider resigning to be more involved with caring for their child in the early weeks and months following their birth.

62% also said that they’d consider taking a lower paid role if it meant they were able to play a more… Read the full story

When you live in a city packed with more grey than green, it can be tricky to stop and smell the roses… because there’s nowhere to plant them.

Heading to green spaces and parks can feel like more hassle than they’re worth – they’re a faff to get to and packed with topless sunbathers when you do make the effort.

Few of us pass through parks on our way to work, or feel we have the time to head to gardens once we escape the office for the day.

So if… Read the full story

    (Picture: Liu Bolin)

Remember master of camouflage, Liu Bolin?

He first came to our attention back in 2014, with an array of incredible images showing him blending effortlessly into a number of backgrounds.

And now the Chinese performance artist and photographer is back – this time with even more optical illusion-type pieces.

‘The Invisible Man’, as he’s known, uses his own body as a canvas, taking on the appearance of his surroundings and dissolving into objects, from balloons to bricks.

Liu describes his work as ‘creating scenes that are statements about our relationship to our surroundings’.

‘Disappearing is not the main point of my work. It’s just the method I use to pass on a… Read the full story

When it comes to viral content, us millennials then to think we’re the original comedians.

But it turns out that some memes actually have roots that go way back.

Take the ‘distracted boyfriend’ meme for example. You know the one – showing a dude checking out another woman on the street while his partner looks on.

While the internet might be full of variations of the meme, it turns out that the idea isn’t particularly new.

In fact, Charlie Chaplin had his own version almost a century ago.

The saying goes that art imitates life. But sometimes, art imitates art.

And an anonymous Instagram account is openly shaming contemporary canvases that closely resemble other works – sparking off a debate around appropriation and plagiarism within the art world.

@whos____who is juxtaposing side-by-side images of strikingly similar work by different artists in a bid to shame copycats.

It’s got nearly 22.5k followers; rather than leading followers to draw conclusions, it just quietly leaves the images along with the names of the artists and lets people make up their own minds.

As ArtNet points out, the conversation has even stretched to things like blackface, with white artist Josh Smith’s painting of watermelons being called out for ripping off the late African-American folk artist, Mose Tolliver’s image of the fruit.

‘A good example of how Blackface works casually in art now,’ one user writes.

    Appetising, or…? (Picture: Walmart)

Remember green ketchup of the 90s? Well, it’s back.

Entertainment giant Nickelodeon has teamed up with food company Great Value to launch Slime Sauce, a slime green ketchup.

Slime features heavily in many kids TV shows (remember Get Your Own Back?) and Nickelodeon now wants it to feature heavily on your dinner.

The sauce is described as ‘a fun and exciting way for your child to enjoy their favorite condiment’, with a ketchup that ‘features a vibrant green color that resembles slime from the popular Nickelodeon game show, Splat.’

    Yum?

Unacceptable sandwich behaviour (Picture: Metro.co.uk/Twitter @sofiahaj_xo)

A new investigation has revealed which supermarkets are screwing us out of sandwich fillings – and it’s not who you might expect.

The findings were shared by Channel 5’s new consumer show, Shop Smart Save Money, which airs tonight (13 July).

A shocking 14 out of 30 sandwiches studied by experts at Leeds Beckett University were found to contain less filling than the packaging states.

However, it’s not all bad news – some stores are very generous with their fillings, adding up to 41% of the main ingredient.

Researchers examined the same types of sandwich from 10 different stores, which included Aldi, Boots,Co-op, M&S, Waitrose, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s… Read the full story

    Acne and depression
    (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Acne can be a right little terror.

It’s nothing to be ashamed of, but whether you get it as a teen or an adult, it can completely destroy your self confidence. Not to mention the fact that it can be itchy and painful.

Shockingly, there’s still a lot of confusion and stigma around the skin condition, and often, not enough support.

When it comes to the NHS, it can be a bit of a postcode lottery about how much (useful) help you’re offered, and with effective topical medication like Isotrex being discontinued for NHS patients, it can leave sufferers feeling a little lost.

Luckily, there’s a new… Read the full story

Picture: Village Landais France is building an Alzheimers village
    (Picture: Village Landais)

A village designed specifically for people with Alzheimer’s Disease is being built in France, with plans to open its doors to 120 patients by the end of 2019.

The village will be designed to give those with Alzheimer’s a place where they can live safely; free of loneliness, isolation, or any of the stresses standard housing or care homes may pose.

It’ll be similar to an Alzheimer’s village in the Netherlands, which aimed to be as close to living in a home environment; with streets they could stroll along and cafes they could visit. In this village, carers in plain clothes could… Read the full story

World Cucumber Day (yes, that’s a thing) takes place on 14 June, and Hendrick’s Gin is set to celebrate it by giving away free gin and tonics across over 200 bars in the UK.

According to Hendrick’s Gin, the company has always ‘held cucumber in the highest regard’, due to the spirit’s unusual distillation process which includes the infusion of rose and cucumber, making the gin lighter and more complex than others.

Cucumber Day was invented by cucumber growers in England in 2011, meaning it’s been celebrated for the past seven years.

Previously on Good Sex Bad Sex we chatted about naked cleaning (and sexual fantasies… and voyeurism… and Oprah…) with the sparkling actor, presenter and Naked Cleaner, Ethan Mechare. Grab a J-cloth and listen here.

In this week’s podcast, our guest is author Kerry McKeagney – talking about her very hot indeed new novel Tubing.

Tubing, a thriller, is hooked on strangers rendezvousing and frottaging/blowing/coming – in full-sight of fellow passengers – on the tube. Tubing is basically dogging on the London Underground.

Kerry chats about her book, ‘tubing’ (is it real?!), and the discovery in writing sexy scenes on this week’s episode of Good Sex Bad Sex.

Good Sex Bad Sex:  You said, when we emailed about this, that you found writing the book empowering. In what way?

Kerry: I suppose because A) it was the porn thing. I’d never watched porn.

    GSBS: WHAT?!

Kerry: I know! You start researching this stuff and you just realise there’s a whole other world out… Read the full story

If you’ve heard one travelling tale from Southeast Asia, you’ve heard them all.

Tubing in Laos? Drinking buckets of dubious alcohol at a full moon party in Thailand? Taking selfies at Cambodia’s Angkor Wat? Yeah yeah, we know, mate.

But 26-year-old Nathanel Creson has set his travelling experience apart from the rest – as he’s backpacking with his 74-year-old gran, Safta.

Most people’s grandparents are pretty content with taking it easy in their twilight years, and why shouldn’t they if they want to, with many of them having lived through multiple wars.

It is vital that our role as carers is given space and appreciated by the able-bodied majority (Picture: Candy Parfitt)

It only occasionally dawns on me that not everyone in their 20s is wiping their boyfriend’s bum.

Did you know there's also a Love Island movie?

It may seem like a crude way to begin, but to me it is just a tiny part of my relationship with my partner Max, who has cerebral palsy and requires 24-hour care.

His disability mainly affects his legs and hands, so he uses a wheelchair, and needs help with everything you’d ordinarily do with your hands… Read the full story

    90s bottomless cocktail party
    (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Talk to most PTs and they’ll tell you that the best thing you can do to achieve optimum fitness is to ditch the booze.

Alcohol is packed with sugar, it raises your cortisol levels and can leave you a blithering mess the next day – none of which is particularly conducive to working hard at the gym.

Alcohol provides around seven calories per gram (for comparison, carbs and protein provide four, while fat provides nine – so these really are empty calories).

But you know, it’s summer and life is for living. You can’t just hide away from any and every social occasion; without balance,… Read the full story
