How much would you have given for your own toy restaurant as a kid? (Picture: Rodessa Villanueva-Reyes)

One budding entrepreneur already has her own small business to take care of after her mum built her an amazing toy cafe and restaurant – out of cardboard boxes.

Mum Rodessa Villanueva-Reyes, from the Philippines, shared pictures of the incredible DIY build on Facebook to show you don’t have to spend a fortune on the latest gadgets to spark your children’s imagination.

Rodessa, herself an entrepreneur and bakery owner, built the entire play kitchen and restaurant out of recycled cardboard boxes for her one-year-old daughter – and… Read the full story

Rolo the dog
It wasn’t me (Picture: SWNS)

Don’t let those puppy dog eyes, or the diminutive stature, fool you. Wherever Rolo the miniature dachshund goes, he leaves a trail of destruction in his wake.

Despite being only eight-inches tall, owner Kelly Mobbs, 35, from Leicester, says he is literally eating them out of house and home.

The three-year-old pup destroys doors by nibbling on them when he’s left in the home alone. He also makes short work of pillows, cuddly toys and, occasionally, kitchen chairs.

And, through it all, he remains unrepentant.

Kelly, who owns another miniature dachshund called Bella, and has 12-year-old twin boys with her partner, says Rolo is a tiny menace.

We can’t understand what people didn’t like about a floating McDonald’s restaurant, but it seems there just wasn’t the appetite for a floating burger joint back in the 80s.

Built for the Expo ’86 in Vancouver, Canada, the McBarge (official name the Friendship 500) was meant to show off cutting edge tech and design.

After the exhibition, the plan was for the restaurant to be floated to a new location, allowing people to enjoy their Quarter Pounders on the open water.

Rather like today, in 1986, the burger chain was under pressure to tempt young affluent adults back to the Big Mac and… Read the full story

Before she started her travel blog in 2010, Christy Woodrow, 36, was a financial advisor with her own bookkeeping business in San Diego. ‘I wasn’t passionate about it, but it was easy money and allowed me to travel often because of the flexible hours,’ she recalls.

Sound familiar?

Well, fast forward six years and Christy took home six figures last year, being paid as a travel blogger and photographer to travel the world.

And she’s talked to us about how she did it.

She decided to start her travel blog Ordinary Traveler after a 6-week trip to Southeast Asia in early 2010 with boyfriend Scott.… Read the full story

Greggs is making flat whites, people. And you can get a supergrain salad to go with it *ducks*

The unthinkable is here. It has finally happened. Greggs has gone posh.

That purveyor of fine sausage rolls and steak bakes, the beloved high street bakers behind the chicken tikka lattice and the much-loved festive bake, the shop that sold marshmallow ice cream cones to children of the 80s and 90s, has gone up in the world.

FINALLY. Greggs pasties and savouries ranked from worst to best – but the results are controversial

No Smoking Day 2016: Stopping smoking sucks, but being a smoker sucks more

I used to hate No Smoking Day, especially the stuff about how smoking is bad.

I wasn’t going through two and a half packs a day because I thought smokes were healthy, or because I thought ladies loved to see a man who couldn’t climb stairs without coughing up a lung.

Like every smoker since about 1947, I knew full well that smoking was lethal. I just couldn’t stop.

And then I did, after 22 years. But I still hate No Smoking Day.

My reasons are different now, though.

I hate it because it’s a day of listening to smug ex-smokers talking about how easy stopping was.

How they read a book or listened to a CD or thought… Read the full story

Pregnancy change
Simple (Picture: letswatch/Imgur)

We’ve seen time lapses of pregnancy before, but they’ve never been as quick as this.

Or quite as addictive.

Welcome to becoming a mum in just nine seconds.

As one Imgur user commented: ‘I heard a microwave ding in my head at the end.’

A new video, which has been shared across Imgur and Facebook, shows a woman go from flat stomach to pregnancy bump, to new mum, in less than the time it takes for you to change the TV channel (probably).

And all in the same pair of skinny jeans (albeit they don’t really do up by the end).

Today’s most heartwarming story is brought to you from a beach in Brazil.

It’s the story of a South American Magellanic penguin who swims 5,000 miles each year to be reunited with the man who saved his life.

Retired bricklayer and part time fisherman Joao Pereira de Souza, 71, who lives in an island village just outside Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, found the tiny penguin, covered in oil and close to death, lying on rocks on his local beach in 2011.

Joao cleaned the oil off the penguin’s feathers and fed him a daily diet of fish to build his strength. He named him Dindim.

This is just really uncomfortable all round, to be honest.

A church elder from Wheaton, Illinois, desperately seeking a husband for his ‘godly, gorgeous, virgin’ daughter, decided to skip Tinder and advertise instead.

Even more awkwardly, he decided to place the ad in the jobs section of evangelical christian publication Christianity Today.

He even linked to his daughter Rachel’s blog so applicants could find out a bit more about their potential spouse.

While she’s since made her blog private, 26-year-old Rachel initially seemed amused by the ad, writing in a [now deleted… Read the full story

The 22 stages of tidying up with children

Please note – this is not a picture of my house. That’s much worse (Picture: Getty)

I don’t know about you, but my house is usually a mess.

It’s not that we don’t try and keep it reasonably shipshape.

We have rotas, systems and enough regular visitors to motivate us.

Unfortunately we also have children.

We’ve tried to teach them to be houseproud, and we’re failing miserably.

Nowhere is this more apparent than when we decide to have a Grand Tidying Up Session.

And here’s how it goes.

1. You set yourselves a time limit – the whole house tidy by five o’clock. You will push this back twice, and eventually abandon it altogether.

2. ‘We’re tidying, kids. You’re all going to… Read the full story

All food is shared equally (Picture: Getty)

No one can ever appreciate how strong the bond is between a dog and owner unless they’ve felt it for themselves.

Sometimes it’s best to keep quiet about how deep your infatuation with your mutt goes. They’d never understand.

Here are 13 secrets all dog owners keep:

1. You’d rather be with your dog

You leave parties early so that you don’t miss out on your evening cuddles with your best pal, and even date nights have got nothing on a game of fetch with your pup.

You’ve already got a soul mate and he’s waiting for you to come home and give him an ear rub.

12p theme park tickets are being released to celebrate the arrival of the ghost train (Picture: Thorpe Park)

Derren Brown is known for his mind-bending tricks. And, to celebrate the launch of his new Ghost Train ride, Thorpe Park have pulled off one of their own.

They will be rolling back prices on their tickets to just 12p.

That’s a full adult day pass for less than the price of a Freddo.

The ghost train is described as ‘a thirteen-minute journey through fear’ and features a Victorian train carriage. It’s set in 1871, which explains the random price-point – 12p today is the equivalent to a shilling or ‘a bob’ in Victorian times.
