A man with multiple sclerosis is embarking on a mammoth walk to raise money in honour of the wife he lost to cancer.

49-year-old Tony Hadfield, from Sheffield, is currently 9 weeks into the 900 mile walk, which will take him from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

Even before his own diagnosis, Tony was no stranger to multiple sclerosis.

His brother David, who has been wheelchair-bound since 2001, was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 29.

Kate Middleton wore a glamorous red cocktail dress by British design duo Preen for her first evening engagement of the Canadian tour – a reception at British Columbia’s Government House in Victoria.

As well as once again paying homage to the host country’s colours, the Duchess wore the Queen’s sparkling diamond maple leaf brooch – given to her for the tour – which she also had pinned to her dress as she arrived in Canada on Saturday.

The diamond maple leaf brooch was given to the late Queen Mother by her husband King George VI to mark the… Read the full story

It’s almost time to carve out the pumpkins and whip out the Dracula costume.

That’s because next month we celebrate Halloween – a day made for stuffing your face with sweets and pulling a few cheeky pranks here and there just for the LOLs.

It’s a fun tradition, but why exactly do we celebrate it?

When is Halloween?

Halloween is marked on October 31 every year.

It’s all kicking off between fashion editors and bloggers and it feels like 2006 all over again.

When bloggers first arrived on the scene with their iPhones and their enthusiasm, the fashion elite struggled to cope with it.

And some seem to still be struggling to come to terms with a more inclusive fashion industry.

In a recent Vogue.com article entitled ‘Ciao, Milano! Vogue.com’s Editors Discuss the Week That Was,’ several of the editors make critical comments about bloggers who are paid to wear designers’ clothes on the front rows and pavements around international fashion weeks.

Playboy has been famed for bunnies and soft porn editorials – or as they like to call it, ‘Men’s Lifestyle and Entertainment’ since 1953.

But since going online, it’s been changing.

They’ve got voter’s guides to the US election. Recipes. Think pieces about why guys should be cuddling ‘post hook-up’.

And now they’ve featured ‘media wunderkind Noor Tagouri’ – a female journalist who wears a hijab.

She’s part of the series the magazine is running called Renegades of 2016, which features men and women who seek to challenge Playboy readers about business, music, porn and more.

A first generation Libyan American, Noor’s an anchor for… Read the full story

We’re sure she can laugh about it now.

But, at the time, we can imagine bride Dina Smart was ready to throttle her dad Andy Todd after he ignored her advice not to lift the cake during his father-of-the-bride speech and then dropped all three perfectly-iced tiers on the floor.

In a video shared online, Andy starts off by saying he needs to thank Sam, who made the wedding cake. ‘I’d just like to say – has anyone looked at this cake, because it is absolutely fantastic,’… Read the full story

In news that will surprise no one, a new study has shown that men who are happy with their penis have more sex than those who don’t.

The news came from the Ministry of the Freaking Obvious (kidding, it was the University of California San Francisco) following their study of a nationally representative sample of around 4,000 men aged 18-65 in the US.

We’re being sassy but some juicy statistics did actually emerge from the study, which asked the men to answer a survey, as well as completing the Index of Male Genital Image (IMGI), which is a scale created in 2013 as a way measuring perceptions of male genitalia.

I expect you thought clubs disguised as barber shops and bars with secret knocks and passwords were limited to London or at least the UK.

Nope. There’s hipsters in Shanghai, as in that place in China, nearly half a day away.

So not only do you have the beauty of The Bund, the fascinating food and the buzzing multicultural nightlife, you now have a load of bearded cool kids thrown into the mix.

I went to investigate and it turns out Shanghai is more hipster than London and New York combined.

There’s nothing quite like the smell of a freshly ground coffee in the morning.

Time to panic: Coffee could be extinct by 2080

The waft of hot milk in a cappuccino, the bitter after taste of a double espresso and the sweetness of a caffe mocha. Nothing can beat that, right?

But drinking a coffee in the morning to wake up and give yourself a caffeine boost is all a myth, suggests research gathered by Ph.D candidate Steven Miller at the Uniformed Services University of the… Read the full story

07-ultimate-part-time-job
This could be you. (Don’t slip though, would put a real downer on the vlog.)

If you’ve already graduated, cast your mind back to the part-time job you had at uni.

Let us guess – cleaning up sick in the student union? Delivering beige, lukewarm meals to punters’ tables at the local chain pub? Looking bored sh*tless on the sales floor of a major retail store? Yeah, same.

Luckily for students these days, part-time jobs have hugely improved – if the newly advertised role of Chief Adventure Officer (CAO) is anything to go by.

Yup, National Rail’s 16-25 Railcard are looking for someone to travel around the UK for them. And get paid for it.

Last week, a video of pupil Hector Montez surprising his teacher Thomas Walser with a pair of the Nike Air Jordans he’d wanted since he was 12-years-old – just to say thanks – was watched over 300,000 times.

And now Hector’s received a surprise of his own – from Nike themselves.

Hector, a student at Coronado High School, Texas, wrote on Twitter last week: ‘It’s good to give back to the man who’s always been by my side.’

Alongside this, he shared a clip of the moment he handed Coach Walser a box and explained: ‘You told me Sophomore year that this… Read the full story

8 things you’ll only understand if you have an invisible illness

Having an invisible illness can really suck sometimes.

While you suffer miserably with it, nobody else can see how it’s getting to you and you’re often not taken seriously. In some cases, you’re not even believed at all.

TFL is introducing new badges and cards for people with disabilities and invisible illnesses

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a form of inflammatory bowel disease, in 2015. Over the time I have learned to deal with the snide comments and rude looks that come from living with an incurable, invisible illness.

But just because I’ve learned how to handle it,… Read the full story

A poor guy just fluffed his big proposal in front of millions.

Andrew Fox had spent months planning it. He’d got tickets for him and girlfriend Heather to see their favourite team – the Yankees – take on the Boston Red Sox at the Yankee Stadium.

He organised for a message to come up on the big screen during the game.

Then, with the cameras and the eyes of the (sporting) world on him, he turned to Heather, opened the engagement ring box and…dropped the ring.

Cut to his panicked face:

Yoga can be difficult.

You’re basically always on the verge of losing balance – and that’s when you’re standing on a mat.

So imagine practicing your Virabhadrasana umpteen hundred feet above the ground.

On a wire.

That’s what Laetitia Gonnon did while on a girls’ holiday to Ostrov in the Czech Republic.

The 24-year-old performed various complex poses despite claiming that she’d only started practicing regular yoga just weeks before.

Another blogger on Instagram is urging people to stop obsessively counting calories, after realising it was actually hampering her fitness goals.

A lot of people work on the basis that to achieve your ideal body and weight, you have to restrict your calorie intake. But, increasingly, fitness bloggers on Instagram are warning against being too restrictive with what you eat.

Like 20-year-old Finnish blogger Sarah Puhto. Yesterday, she shared a side-by-side picture that showed her body last year when she restricted herself to fewer than 1,000 calories a day and weighed 54kg (8st 5lbs), vs. her body now, when she’s consuming between 2,000 and… Read the full story

Whatever your age, you probably had nightmares as a kid about the trippy-eyed, villainous snake Kaa in The Jungle Book.

The 1967 film adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s famous book portrayed him as a sneaky fella who tries to take advantage of lost little orphan Mowgli, with his hypnotising eyes. A new, live action adaptation was released this year and Kaa was still terrifying AF.

This year has been unprecedentedly bad. Apart from the fact that Alan Rickman, Victoria Wood and Prince have all died, Trump might be about to become the most powerful man in the world.

If that’s not proof that we need to do something about bad spirits, then nothing is.

So it’s probably no surprise then that the Catholic Church has seen a rise in people practising Satanism both in Italy and the US.

As a result, Rome is now recruiting more priests as exorcists in order to combat evil spirits.

Valter Cascioli, a psychologist at the International Association of Exorcists, told La Stampa that the lack of priests able to fight evil is ‘a real emergency’.

Ah, Britain. The land of the tea bag, a place where others will kindly offer you their seat on public transport before grimacing about it throughout the rest of the entire journey.

These UCL students moved into their new digs to find it was once owned by Amy Winehouse

It’s a unique place.

To celebrate our eccentricity, Awfully British is asking followers to join them and reveal Britain’s most prominent offences.

Using the hashtag #AwfullyBritishOffences, they’ve managed to start an offensive phenomenon.

Maya the three-year-old Siberian husky is ridiculously photogenic – she wears a flower crown better than all of us.

She’s also a glass half-full kind of gal. Which is pretty impressive given the tough start she was handed out in life.

Maya, who lives with owner Kit in Thailand, was born without paws on all four legs. She also has a degenerative condition which affects her hips, as well as a bone disorder. This means she struggles to walk and even stand on her own.
