London craft gin distiller Sipsmith is being sold to a Japanese spirits company.

Beam Suntory, which owns Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark bourbons, has agreed to buy the company in a bid to capitalise on the growing interest in artisan gins.

Beam Suntory, the third biggest spirits manufacturer in the world, will look to increasing exports of Sipsmith gins. Currently two-thirds of the craft gin distiller’s sales are in the UK.

Sam Galsworthy, who co-founded Sipsmith with Fairfax Hall, said: ‘We have found the perfect partners to take Sipsmith to all four corners… Read the full story
