Pictured - The seagulls can be seen dive bombing and flocking towards Alex's camera. See Ross Parry copy RPYSEAGULLS. A plucky photographer has captured the terror of a SEAGULL attack after they swooped on his camera. Brave Alex Newsome, 24, headed to the seaside to get a glimpse of being surrounded by flocks of the food-snatching birds. The images show a birds-eye view of the seagulls as they swoop down and attack the camera with spread wings and open beaks. The snaps of the birds that have long plagued holiday makers and beachgoers, were taken in Whitby, North Yorks.

A photographer has documented what it’s like to live with anxiety in a series of nerve-shredding images.

When John William Keedy was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, he admits he had a hard time accepting it. ‘I hate to say it, but I was embarrassed by it,’ he told NPR.org.

Almost eight years later, the San Antonio-based photographer set out to create a series of images that would offer a glimpse into his world.

It’s Hardly Noticeable is the result.

Things start to get back to normal (well as normal as they can be) after your baby’s first year, and your mind starts drifting towards the thoughts of having another.

You joke about it with your partner every now and again, but are you both really ready to throw yourselves back into life with a newborn?

Here are just some of the pros and cons for having another baby…

1. PRO: Newborns are so scrummy – their tiny little hands and tiny little toes are simply adorable.

CON: As gorgeous as they are, don’t forget newborns come with zero sleep, lots of crying, and constant feeding. Do you… Read the full story

Banning smoking on Brighton beach would be ridiculous

Brighton Beach. Soon to be a smoke free zone? (Picture: Reuters)

It’s often said that Brighton is tolerant of everything except gluten.

But soon, if the council presses ahead with its plans, there could be one more rule for everyone to break.

The Council wants a smoking ban on the beach.

But how would an outdoor smoking ban work in practice?

Bathers in budgie smugglers and bikinis traipsing off the stones, up the stairs to the promenade to have a gasper?

It would be quite a sight.

MORE: Brighton beach could get a smoking ban

It is also raises the ludicrous possibility of a group of people gathered around a £2 disposable BBQ that’s belching out smoke as they grill a few burgers on the beach, but being unable… Read the full story

Oh yeah, I love it (Picture: NBC)

A quarter of young British women admit they’re more likely to cheat on their partner than their hairdresser.

Well, it is hard to find The One. The one, that is, who doesn’t give you ginger highlights, or think ‘just a trim’ means three inches off the back.

In fact, almost half of women questioned in a recent survey agreed that a good hairdresser is harder to find than a good partner.

A total of 2,173 British women, aged 18-30, who’d been in a relationship for more than three months, took part in the poll for BABTAC (British Association of Beauty Therapists and Cosmetology).

How will you be celebrating?*

So yes, today is officially ‘hand job day’ in Japan.

Well, we say ‘officially’… it’s not actually an official public holiday, but it is definitely a thing. As in, it even has its very own mascot – a Power Ranger-style superhero called Tengaman (who is apparently a ‘masturbation warrior’).

So, how did ‘hand job day’ come (naughty!) about?

Well, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that it’s all a marketing ploy by a company called Tenga, who make fleshlight-style masturbation aids for men.

Honestly, we’d never have imagined men would need to be encouraged to have a w*nk. Go figure.

*Actually, scrap that. We’d prefer not to know.… Read the full story

You just look like Will from Inbetweeners (Picture: Jameson)

Glasses are pretty cool.

They are essentially two big magnifiers that you pop on your face every day so you can see all the important stuff around us. Important stuff being Drake’s latest Instagram posts.

Although they seem like a fun cool accessory to have, only those who are cursed with having to wear them understand just how much of a struggle it all is.

1. The morning scramble

Every morning you engage is a massive morning panic when you temporarily can’t find your glasses on your bedside table. They usually have fallen on the floor. Great.

According to website Sorrida, the pop-up at McDonald’s in Roppongi Hill will open on July 27 only to celebrate the launch of the new Fresh Mac – a bacon lettuce burger with actual fresh vegetables.

And is it just us or does Big Mac served three ways on fine china sound strangely appealing?

Does size really matter?

Researchers at the University of Zurich have asked the question that has haunted men since Adam covered himself in a fig leaf: what makes a good looking penis?

They asked 105 women between the ages of 16 and 45 to rank the most attractive qualities in the male member and you might find the results surprising.

Good news for the less well-endowed: length doesn’t necessarily make for a pretty willy, ranking near the bottom of the table.

Researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine have developed a new type of antidepressant, which they’re hoping could cure depression in 24 hours with minimal side effects.

Although the drug has so far only been tested on mice, researchers are positive that it could provide a significant breakthrough in how depression is treated.

In fact, lead researcher Dr. Scott Thompson, PhD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Physiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UM SOM) commented: ‘These compounds produced the most dramatic effects in animal studies that we could have hoped for.’

The incredible way smell helps you recall memories

Smell your way to the past (Picture: SciShow)

Ever found that the smell of PVA glue brings back memories of primary school art classes and the one kid who always tried to eat everything? Well it turns out there’s a pretty good scientific reason for this phenomenon.

Smell is like the superpower of the senses, because it can help recall stronger and more vivid memories of life as a kid than all the others – including sight and taste.

According to science whiz SciShow, this is due to how the brain receives the smell signals. All the other senses go through the thalamus, but smell likes to make its own path and goes through the olfactory bulb instead. What a rebel.

This is important because the… Read the full story

Shower beer – the finest passtime to ever grace this earth

What could be better than an ice cold beer?

An ice cold beer drunk under a stream of warm running water, of course.

And that’s exactly the joy that is SHOWER BEER.

The phenomenon, which presumably started out in a frat house somewhere in deepest darkest America, has now spread like wildfire over the internet to become a real life ‘thing’ with actual grown men and women sharing snaps of their shower beer moments like it’s a socially acceptable passtime.

At this point, we should probably write some more words, but instead we’re just going to show you lots of pictures of people enjoying a shower beer (or, as we like to think of them, #ShowerBeerInspo), and hotstep… Read the full story

Yes, we want fries with everything (Picture: Come Fry With Me)

London’s newest foodie trend is restaurants that only serve one thing. Because who wants choice really?

There’s Burger & Lobster (does what it says on the tin), the Cereal Killer Cafe (hipsters gone mad in the cereal aisle) and the protein-rich Bad Egg.

We thought we’d become numb to the novelty restaurant, those trendy one-tricky ponies, but that’s until we heard about Come Fry With Me. It’s a restaurant that only serves chips. They had us at chips.

Come Fry With Me (which, for some unknown reason, has an aviation theme; a somewhat over-elaborate set up for two bad puns – yes, there is a Mile Fry Club) will open permanently in… Read the full story

An alcoholic drink (purely for medicinal purposes of course) might actually help those with chronic widespread pain.

A new study of 2,239 people with chronic widespread pain found that people who regularly enjoyed a tipple or two had lower levels of disability than teetotal patients.

In fact, those who drank 21 to 35 units of alcohol per week (equivalent to just over a pint a day) were 67 per cent less likely to experience disability than those who avoided boozy beverages.

But before knocking back bottle after bottle of beer remember that moderation is key.
