Candy floss is the perfect accompaniment to any funfair trip.

It’s light. It’s sugary. It’s delicious. It’s perfect.

This 93-year-old bride is asking the internet to help pick her wedding dress

But if you think it can’t be improved upon, think again – because Disney has just debuted a colourful light-up cotton candy.

That’s right:  ACTUAL GLOWING CANDY FLOSS.

Available at Disneyland’s World of Colours, the floss features pink, blue, green and purple swirls which sit on top of a flashing illuminated wand.

Today is World Environment Day – a day when we turn our focus to cleaning up the planet.

Eating organic ‘won’t save the planet’ – and it’s not that great for you either

The date (it’s always June 5 every year) isn’t just a day to read about the problems affecting the countryside, it is all about action and physically getting off your chair to do something to help preserve nature.

That could means organising a litter picking outing, hiking in your local park, planting trees or snapping some beautiful shots of the great outdoors and sharing them online.

Here is everything… Read the full story

What it’s like to start online therapy

Four months after being prescribed therapy, I was losing faith that it was ever going to happen.

I’d started talking to people about going private and working out if I could actually budget for weekly sessions.

These are the most beautiful raw vegan cakes you'll ever see

The main reason I hadn’t committed to tracking down a therapist away from the NHS? Honestly, I was curious to find out exactly how long it would take to get through the waiting list, to get a real look at the mental health care system.

When I was originally prescribed therapy, I was given the option to have in-person or online sessions. My preference, naturally, was in-person, but I was warned that the waiting list to sit down with an actual, real-life therapist, face-to-face would be at least three months.

If I went for online therapy, the person on the phone told me, I’d be… Read the full story

My hedgehog, Nutmeg (Picture: Frances Coleman-Williams)

Far from the latest craze, these little creatures are incredible.

African pygmy hedgehogs require a modest budget and a fair amount of care to ensure they stay well.

Provided with the correct care, they will provide, in spades, the cutest photos and many hours of fun and snuggles.

I have an African pygmy hedgehog called Nutmeg.

She’s incredibly shy but she’s the cutest little thing and loves cuddles.

Here’s 8 things you only know if you own an African pygmy hedgehog.

How I eventually came to embrace my curly, awesome hair

Most people seem to agree that my hair falls somewhere between Charles I and Bryan May.

It’s a mass of corkscrew curls and frizz (by which I mean 98% frizz).

metro illustrationsWhat it's like to start online therapy

And like my two older, male doppelgangers, it’s my crowning glory. My defining feature.

I love my hair and I hate my hair.

I love people touching it and commenting on it (although it’s usually drunk people who do that). It keeps my head and ears warm in all weathers. It provides me with hours of fiddling.

But it’s also difficult to style and it’s dry like bone. Honestly, I must spend half my life cutting off split ends.

VPLs are the bane of any legging wearer’s life.

Is there really such a thing as a VPL-less pant? No. To avoid any lines under skin-tight clothing, you’re only genuinely VPL-proof option is to go commando.

Mum has a brilliant response to the woman in Walmart who called her son 'repulsive'

And that’s not really practical a lot of the time. So we spend hours trying to smooth our bums with our hands or wearing long tops to try and cover our arses.

But while the VPL is ridiculous and mostly unavoidable, there’s another much-maligned line that we should all try to embrace this… Read the full story

As soon as the ring was on my finger, people started asking me about my pre-bridal diet.

Someone proposed to his girlfriend at their mates' wedding and Twitter is outraged

In fact, I ended a friendship with one woman, who sidled over to me and asked if I was finally going to let her teach me ‘how to run’.

The assumption that the second you’re engaged you’re planning on shedding half your body weight in order to look two-dimensional walking down the aisle is sexist, outdated and unfair.

Unfortunately, it’s also completely true.

If there’s one word that could make an argument stop, you’d assume it was sorry, right?

Apologising would seem like the obvious way to bring a conflict to an end. But, according to relationship expert and family therapy Hal Runkle, not so.

Runkle wrote an article for the Daily Mail, exploring some of the ways in which couples can learn to argue better, and it’s a fascinating read.

Runkle explains that of course, there’s nothing wrong with apologising, but it’s not the most practical way to stop the conflict. Instead, if you’re trying to get the argument over and done with, you should be saying, ‘ouch’.

Vaping is becoming increasingly popular, with the concept of blowing out massive vapours of flavoured smoke seen as either a way to give up traditional cigarettes or a hobby for those who inhale liquids that don’t contain nicotine.

Those who blow massive clouds of vapour are known as cloud-chasers, and these ‘professional vapers’ take part in cloud-blowing contests called ‘cloud competitions’.

When you think about modern, up to date institutions, the Church isn’t always the first thing that comes to mind.

But the Church of England is clearly working to refute that perception, and to be a religious institution which full embraces everyone who wishes to follow the religion.

I bet you could tell me what your partner’s favourite colour is.

You could probably say where your parents most like to go on holiday, and I’d be surprised if you didn’t know what your best friend’s drink of choice was.

But would you be able to say what any of them wanted their funeral to look like? Or whether they’ve made any financial provisions for it? Probably not.

Talking about funerals is undeniably morbid. It’s a conversation about death, and when you talk about your funeral you’re expending time and effort discussing a party at which you definitely won’t be present.

I don’t blame anyone for wanting to skip the conversation. But the… Read the full story
