Everyone knows that Christmas is all about spending time with family, gorging on festive foods and drinking lots and lots of Prosecco.

And so we were super excited when we found out there’s going to be two days all about the latter happening this December, as Prosecco Fest UK comes to London.

On 16 and 18 December, a Prosecco festival will be happening in London’s Tobacco Dock.

According to the event description, the two days are going to consist of a ‘festival of fizz for you to indulge in a huge number of Prosecco, Spumante, Cava, Bruit, Pink Champagne and a range of Prosecco cocktails to taste’ in sessions.

It’s not up to you to decide how able-bodied my invisible illness makes me

As someone who lives with an invisible illness, I find myself constantly trying to battle other people’s expectations.

I have inflammatory bowel disease, which can be debilitating. It can leave me heavily fatigued, glued to my bed in an attempt to find a position to battle the stomach cramps.

It affects my day-to-day life. I live with the fear that I’ll be unable to leave the house for more than a couple of hours without needing to rush back to use the toilet.

People don’t realise it, but with IBD, the bathroom becomes your best friend. You spend most of your time dealing with the symptoms of the disease – yet people… Read the full story

It’s a fairly sunny Tuesday in July.

It’s actually the tenth anniversary of the 7/7 terrorist attacks on London – 7 July 2015. Ten years since 52 people were killed and over 770 were injured when bombs were set off across the London transport network. Both buses and tubes were affected. But you know all this.

I’m 26 years old. I’m sat in the waiting room of the breast clinic at my local hospital. I watch the second hand on the clock to the right of the television screen tick slowly around.

A few weeks before, I’d found a lump in my right breast. I didn’t think anything of it.

I’d been to see… Read the full story

You might recognise Jessica Stein – AKA blogger Tuula Vintage.

She’s an Instagram star with millions of followers who normally shares beautiful photos from her epic adventures.

Recently, however, her wall has been dominated by photos of her sick baby.

Jessica is trying to raise money for six-month-old Rumi because apparently, she and her partner only have £$202 (£120) between them.

Rumi was born weighing just 2kg and was diagnosed with a very rare chromosome disorder known as Mosaic Trisomy 2.

Typically, babies who are diagnosed with the disorder (doctors told Jessica that fewer than 10 cases have been recorded in medical literature) typically end in miscarriage,… Read the full story

Anyone with a sweet tooth will know that when it comes to packets of multiple-coloured sweets, everyone has their favourite.

Take M&Ms for example – people couldn’t decide between their standard, crispy or peanut range, and so Mars brought out a mixed bag filled with all three.

Starburst-fans loved the strawberry flavour so much that a limited edition all-pink bag was released.

It seems confectionery companies will go all out to make sure customers are satisfied.

The Hindu Festival of Diwali falls on Thursday, October 19 this year and is the biggest, most illuminating festival across the world.

The festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil and hence it is known as The Festival Of Light as people light copious amounts of candles and set off fireworks to celebrate.

Diwali, which literally means ‘row of lights’, falls on the 15th day of Kartika, which is the holiest month in the Hindu calendar.

The celebrations take place over five days, two days before the main signature day of Diwali and two days after (October 17-21).

Diwali is a festival of the Hindu religion but also has… Read the full story

Why I never force my teenager to do homework

I’m a mum to two daughters, now aged 15 and 22, so I’ve had my fair share of experience when it comes to homework.

I also have the benefit of being able to see, at 22, exactly what impact my approach to parenting has had. (Quite a scary thing at times.)

5 things I won’t miss when my teenager leaves home

One thing I have been pleased to see is that my decision not to force my children to do their homework definitely hasn’t left them with a shoddy work ethic. If… Read the full story

Has Rude Health lost its goddamn mind? (Picture: Rude Health/Instagram)

Rude Health is an alternative health food brand.

You’ve probably seen their extortionately priced but delicious-looking granola in Whole Foods. Their nut milks taste really good and have a high proportion of nuts-and-rice-to-water ratio (a rarity).

Anyway, as you might imagine, a large proportion of their client base is vegan.

Their porridge pots are one of the few porridge pots on the market that don’t have powered cow’s milk inside.

Vegans aren’t the only ones who drink nut milks (they’re a God-send for lactose-intolerant people too) but it’s safe to say that many of their customers are consciously plant-based.

So when Rude Health posted a gif of some 90s… Read the full story

The campaign to make Leeds the European Capital Of Culture in 2023 is well under way.

The Leeds bid team is working to acquire this coveted title, which would bring many cultural, social and economic benefits to the city and, in turn, raise its international profile.

15 reasons why Leeds should be named the European Capital of Culture 2023

An operation such as this relies on the support of the locals and Leeds 2023 believes it has the backing needed to ensure a successful bid.

It’s tricky to know when your child needs help – and even harder to know when it’s time to take them to the hospital.

You know, because young kids can’t talk, so they can’t explain what’s wrong. Plus, you don’t want to be one of those hysterical parents who runs to the doctor for every little cough or slightly off-colour poo.

So it’s handy to know the sure signs that your baby needs medical help.

Bookmark this one, then, especially if you know people in the family have asthma (which could indicate your child may have breathing difficulties, too.

Blogger and mum Sophie Cachia shared a video of her baby, Florence, struggling to… Read the full story

This ‘dog worshipping day’ is the most relatable festival in the world

It’s not up for discussion anymore – dogs are wonderful, magical creatures.

In the last few weeks, we’ve seen them become hotel concierges, aid grief therapists, and master the ancient art of yoga. There is literally (probably, maybe) nothing a dog can’t do.

It’s high time we paid them some respect.

The Tihar Festival, in Kathmandu, Nepal, has got the right idea. As part of the Hindu festival of lights (perhaps better known as Diwali), an entire day is donated to the worship of canines. Where do we sign up?

After the huge success of his first photo project where he captured people before and after drinking one, two and three glasses of wine, Marcos Alberti is back with a new photo series, which aims to break down the barriers of female sexual joy.

Marcos has captured the facial expressions of more than 20 women having orgasms.

Together with sexual wellbeing brand, Smile Makers, he’s presented female sexuality as it’s never been seen before (by you, anyway. Burn).

The photo series has been dubbed ‘The O Project’, and sees a number of women being photographed before, during and after reaching orgasm.

The photos unveil the slow, or in some cases,… Read the full story

Love it or hate it, the ‘foodstagram’ is here to stay.

While the idea of snapping your lunch before you tuck in might be enough to put some people off their meal entirely, it’s impossible to ignore the sheer volume of foodie Instagram posts.

From lush looking salads and #cleaneating bowls, to ‘food porn’ piles of meat, cheese and grease, there’s something for everyone to drool over online.

But what, you may wonder, are the best dishes for racking up the ‘likes’? Finally, we have the answer.

We get that in this day and age, you’re nobody without throwing a themed event.

Event organisers have to spend hours coming up with dumb ideas for parties and dinners if they want to remain *fresh*, *cool*, *relevant*.

And in the desperation to do something different, they can run into dodgy territory.

Take this The Cockney’tivity supper club, for example.

It’s a ‘Christmas dining experience like no other’ which is happening at The North Star on Homerton High Street.

Who makes the best burger? We’ve crunched the data

Everyone has waited too long for a burger, only to find it looks nothing like the pictures and the review is nothing like the experience they had.

Burger reviews are filled with such verbose terminology as describing burger buns as ‘stout, oily, seeded classic that defies meat juices’ which are ‘clinging to the ample curves’ of beef (no, really, we just cut and paste that from a burger review).

Nonsense to those sorts of reviews, we say.

We’ve spent countless hours, literally, sat in cafes and restaurants and bars across London to find the data behind the food.

How long do you have to wait? What’s the cost per chip? How much does the… Read the full story

Pumpkin season is here.

The pumpkin spiced latte – that now-iconic marker of autumn’s arrival – has hit shops, and the ones that aren’t being squished into posh coffees are ready to be hacked up and gouged until they resemble gurning, creepy faces, condemned to an afterlife of hollowed-out glowing.

Except for these ones, as it turns out.

One enterprising husband has rescued some poor pumpkins from their grisly demise, instead employing them as… er, sexy props for a photoshoot. Poor things.

At the moment, it seems like every day another high-profile actress comes out with a tale of being sexually harassed.

It’s horrible. It’s awful.

Why the hell should women be subjected to unwanted advances – and far more – if they want to get on in their chosen profession?

You know that and you want Harvey Asshole Weinstein brought down as much as anyone else.

As time goes on, however, and more and more people add their voices to the growing cacophony, the conversation starts to become a bit wearing.
