Happy Beard Day! (Picture: Getty)

Sometimes we wonder, is there anything better than growing a beard?

And of course, the answer is no. Of course there isn’t.

Here are 17 reasons why hirsuteness means happiness and why bristles will make you whistle.

1. You’ll get compliments like never before

Mainly good ones.

2. You’ll save a fortune

There’s a reason razor cartridges are so heavily protected in supermarkets: a pack of four costs more than many people earn in a year, and the atom-thick gap between the 72 blades gets blocked after about half a shave. Beards mean goodbye to all that, and to sticking toilet paper on a face full of cuts.

3. You’ll find your tribe

Beards are beyond words. A simple look and a nod… Read the full story

Your baby brother’s arrived. Time to get responsible. (Picture: Getty)

At the beginning, it’s just you. You get all your parents’ attention, sharing is an alien concept and everything is going quite well.

Then, before you know it, you’re a big sister to a baby brother. You swell with the importance of your new responsibility – until you realise that it’s a life-long commitment.

Here are the best things about having a younger brother – from childhood to adulthood.

1. You get to dress him up in your clothes

For the first couple of years, before he can do anything interesting, he’s basically your doll. He can be a nurse, a ballerina –anything you like. And he loves it! It’s great.

2. You get to scrap Ken in favour of… Read the full story

Barbie: she’s always keeping up with the times.

Presenting SocalityBarbie, the new Barbie edition for the modern hipster age.

She shares the same kind of stuff as all the people you hate-follow: super picturesque perfectly posed hikes, latte art, and photos of her travels, all while perfectly dressed in a curated – but oh-so-effortless – outfit.

Donald Trump: there’s no cure, but we can learn how to live with it.

The man behind the hilarious Obvious Plant Tumblr, Jeff Wysaski, has created a health pamphlet dedicated to the serious genetic condition of Donald Trump. A danger to our health, and the world.

If only because we’re worried about damaging our vision with all this eye-rolling.

Jeff slipped the pamphlets into his doctor’s office in amongst all the other legit illnesses. Awareness must be spread.

Let’s save the world, one pamphlet at a time.

Get on your bike in Denver (Picture: Visit Denver)

Legend has it there are 300 days of sunshine in Denver, Colorado every year.

If that particular urban myth is true, that’s about 290 more days of annual solar power than we are subjected to in the UK.

When you’re in Denver, as I was last month, it’s easy to think that several of those 300 days of sunshine are beaming down on you at once: it’s hot in the city.

Temperatures slide up to the 100F mark with alarming ease, but this is Mile High City, where the altitude means the heat never becomes too sticky.

An app to make you feel a little safer (Picture: Getty)

For women, the ‘safely home!’ text is just something that we all have to do.

Because even the simple act of walking home after dark is just too dangerous.

But while letting your friends and family know when you’ve made it home helps everyone sleep a little easier, it doesn’t offer much help if something actually does happen.

That’s where Companion comes in, a new app which lets you virtually accompany your friends as they walk home.

Here’s how it works. Anyone who’s worried about walking home can use the app to choose ‘companions’ – people in their phone-book who… Read the full story

This type of behaviour needs to stop (Picture: Getty Images)

Eurgh, PDA is the worst.

Couples that are loved up and obsessed with each are annoying. But what is even more annoying are couples that are compelled to show off just how much they are attracted to one another with outlandish displays of PDA.

Ever almost vomited into your coffee on the Tube at the sight of two strangers canoodling? Ever felt an intense rage when trying to get past a couple hugging on the escalator?

Congratulations, you’re a sane human being who can’t (rightfully) stand PDAs.

1. It’s not attractive

You wonder if couples actually think that by practically crawling over one another in public, it makes them look sexy? Or are they hoping that everyone stares at just how… Read the full story

Just make sure to Instagram before drinking.

Rejoice, self-proclaimed basic bitches of the world: London’s Riding House Café will soon be serving an extra special cocktail, just for you.

In honour of London Fashion Week, the café has designed a cocktail menu that takes inspiration from some of the most iconic insults ever heard in the fashion industry.

There’s the Basic Bitch, inspired by Kate Moss’ drunken tirade against an Easyjet pilot.

It’s pretty simple – or basic, as the name suggests – with just two ingredients: homemade spiced rum and Punt e Mes. Which actually sounds a bit more complex in taste than the favoured drinks of the true basic bitch: vodka… Read the full story

family do surprise wedding dance to pharrell's happy
They’re happy.

Wedding dances don’t have to be so serious and emotional.

One family decided to liven things up a bit, surprising their guests with a choreographed dance to Pharrell’s ‘Happy’. One minute they’re doing the parent/child slow-dance to an acoustic rendition of ‘Here Comes the Sun’, and then BAM.

Synchronised clapping, finger shaking, and leg shimmying. Mum and Dad involved, and bringing out some CLASSIC Dad dance moves.

The groom’s mum clearly felt a teensy bit awkward, but she powered through.

Giving birth at home is such a private, emotional experience, that mums-to-be rarely get the chance to see how other people are doing it.

But one photographer wants to change that, capturing intimate photos of his girlfriend’s labour to share what a home birth is really like.

Gustavo Gomes and his girlfriend Priscila Bochi chose to skip the hospital and welcome their child at home after seeing a documentary called O Renascimento do Parto, which explores the high number of caesareans and traumatic births taking place around the world.

The horrors of self promotion. (Picture: Introvert Freelance)

Going freelance always sounds massively appealing to anyone who’s an introvert.

No more uncomfortable interactions in the office! Constant alone time! The freedom to set your own hours to read books alone and watch TV!

But one thing we all manage to forget when making the big leap is that – wait a minute – a core part of freelancing is going out and selling your services to people.

Which is pretty much the worst thing for introverts, ever.

Colorado will take your breath away. That’s what happened to me. Literally.

The high altitude and equally high sun can make you gasp for air if you try something as strenuous as running up a flight of steps.

When you run up a series of flights of steps, as I did to make it before closing time into the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre, one of the most beautiful music venues on the planet, you might only find the energy for one sentence every twenty seconds.

The more metaphorical breath-taking done in Colorado is by its wonderful scenery. If every geologist on Earth somehow died simultaneously in… Read the full story

Why is it not possible to eat as much as you like and still have the body of your dreams?

Anyone who has ever endured a diet, a detox or some form of health kick, knows that it takes severe dedication, commitment and the ability to resist all lovely sugary delicious snacks in order to achieve your target.

Initially, you begin your diet and discover that a few routines aren’t so bad. Eating watermelon every day isn’t so bad, neither is having a teaspoon of peanut butter with an apple.

But there are some foods that you’ve discovered on your journey that cause you to question who would ever willingly eat them.
