Wacku the dog had his snout chopped off with a machete by a callous drunk back in 2012.
The seven-year-old was guarding his owner’s tricycle in a remote town in the Philippines when he was almost hacked to death.
The seriously injured dog was rescued by a Filipino animal welfare charity, and it was such an extreme case that it was the catalyst for a change in the country’s animal welfare law, with sentences and fines for abusers increased.
Thankfully, Wacku recovered, but spent five years in a rescue centre, waiting for someone to come and love him.
