Ellie Parker has spoken out about an ordeal she faced on Valentine’s Day in a public Facebook post.

She had been dining with her girlfriend in a restaurant called Asahi in Indiana, US, to celebrate their first Valentine’s Day together.

They were enjoying their evening up until a chef came over to the table to grill their food for them.

According to Ellie, he was asking other customers if they were dining with their boyfriends or husbands, before he turned to her an her girlfriend, who were holding hands at the time.

‘He got to my girlfriend and I and asked where our Valentine’s were. We told him we were each… Read the full story

Look, we’re sorry. We didn’t want to be the ones to tell you this.

No matter how many bulletproof coffees you drink, no matter how many jars of Himalayan rock salt you buy, and no matter how many cool things you discover before anyone else, you will never achieve your goals of being the most hipster dude around.

Nope, that prize will always be won by Toby LittleDude (H/T HelloGiggles). He’s a dog, and he’s the most hipster of us all. You cannot defeat him.

Toby LittleDude is a total coffee snob.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to make sure you’re number one on your best friend’s phone, this hack will be pretty worthwhile for you.

But if you’re also the sort of person who gets easily offended, perhaps it’s better off you’re left out of the loop.

It turns out, WhatsApp has been documenting our messages ever since we first started using the app, to help calculate who we’re most friendly with.

Because, apparently, a WhatsApp message isn’t just any message – it’s a process of finding out who you most like chatting with.

And it turns out, there’s a simple way to see who your WhatsApp BFF (aka… Read the full story

22 signs you’ve reached peak adulthood (Picture: Liberty Antonia Sadler for metro.co.uk)
Never run out of milk, pants or toilet roll again (Picture: Liberty Antonia Sadler for metro.co.uk)

There are plenty of milestones on the road to adulthood.

There’s the first time you have a drink, and the first time you let somebody else play with your fun bits (the latter often happens on the same evening as the former).

There’s the first pay cheque, and the first car. But how do you know when you’ve peaked, when you’ve become as adulty as it’s possible to become without dressing entirely in beige?

1. You don’t run out of clean pants

Or toilet paper, or milk. Ever.

2. You… Read the full story

What would you class as the perfect date?

A romantic dinner out? A trip to Paris? Or re-watching Making a Murderer with your two main boys Ben and Jerry? We won’t judge you, don’t worry.

You may have noticed that all of your social media newsfeeds over Valentine’s Day were pretty overloaded with cute statuses and pictures of the roses they received.

Which begs the question, how much time did they spend attempting to capture the perfect photo of the presents, as opposed to actually thanking their S.O for it?

And one couple, who had obviously been wondering the same, decided to do something about it.

Instead of spending the… Read the full story

February 14 2016 wasn’t all about roses and heart-shaped chocolate for graphic designer Sarah Chrisya. The day marked three years since her dad passed away.

This year, Sarah had a realisation. ‘I have never got the time to let my dad’s passing to sink in and I never paid tribute to him properly,’ she wrote on her blog.

So she decided it was time. Sarah decided to honour her late father’s life in a way that felt right to her, recreating photos of him from when he visited… Read the full story

Full disclosure: this Nutella-inspired cafe is a full day’s flight away from here – in Dulwich Hill, Sydney, to be precise.

However, just knowing this cathedral, this shrine to Nutella exists somewhere in the world is good enough for us.

And it comes from the great minds behind the Tella Ball, the Nutella monster shake topped with a Nutella doughnut that had us all needing a lie down last summer.

So, welcome to the Tella Balls cafe, the hot new dessert bar from Aki Daikos and Simon Kappatos, that is here to prove dreams really can come true.

If you haven’t guessed already, we’re in a serious relationship with carbs.

Deep fry them, cover them in chocolate, put them on top of a milkshake. Whatever. We love carbs in all forms. They’re there for us. They comfort us. They bring us joy.

And if we were awarding prizes for best carbs, pasta would probably win ‘most reliable’. Pasta’s there when we’re too lazy to cook anything that takes longer than 12 minutes, when we want a fancy meal out, or when we’re just not in the mood for pizza. We love it.

So when we saw Luca Donofrio’s pasta-themed Instagram account, we were entirely besotted.

Beth Ditto’s new range is anything but boring. (Picture: Ezra Petronio)

Typically, launches of plus-size clothing collections follow the same standard pattern:

1. We’re OVERJOYED at the announcement, because YAY, inclusive fashion

2. Disappointment, because the actual collection is made up of black empire line dresses and other incredibly boring, ‘flattering’ stuff.

Not so with Beth Ditto’s new collection.

The Gossip singer has just unveiled her debut clothing line – designed in UK sizes 14 to 28 – and it’s filled with bright colours, statement cuts, and pieces that are actually cool and fashion-y, not just an attempt to tick off a market.

Duke, the little bow-legged pup is finally back on the straight and narrow, thanks to a Florida rescue charity.

The puppy was born with a deformity in his front legs, caused by a serious congenital defect.

It meant he found it much harder to get around. Although what he lacked in mobility and speed, he definitely made up for in enthusiasm and bravery.

Here he is storming down a corridor at his new home, the Little Paws animal shelter in Palm Beach, Florida.

Screw the housing market. We’ll make our own place. (Picture: Peter Aaron/OTTO)

Given the ridiculous cost of renting or – dare we even think it – actually buying a house, it makes total sense that we occasionally sigh and think ‘f*** it, I’ll just build my OWN home.’

Turns out making an actual house out of bricks and stuff is pretty tricky, though. And expensive.

So some creative souls have taken a different approach. They’ve thrown out the traditional idea of a house, and come… Read the full story

No, not like this (Picture: Getty)

Babies are small and compact right, so how hard can travelling with one really be?

If you’ve ever experienced a plane ride with a small person in tow, you’ll know.

Here are just a few of the ways your journey is likely to have been very far removed from your pre-baby flights.

 1. You’ve seen the look of terror when the other people on your row see you heading their way.

 2. You felt like a pro with your backpack and sling – until you tried squeezing into your economy seat.

 3. Handling a pram, car seat, suitcase and other baby paraphernalia requires you to be an actual octopus.

Parking chair

You know how Mary Poppins would clap her hands and things would just tidy themselves?

And how, every Saturday morning, you wish you could do that to the pile of clothes stored handily on your bedroom floor?

Well, we’re not quite there yet, but Nissan has invented the self-parking office chair.

The Intelligent Parking Chair will motor back to your desk and tuck itself tidily underneath, at just the clap of your hands.

The tech is based on Nissan’s self-parking cars. The chairs can turn 360 degrees and use motion detection cameras placed around the room that ‘wirelessly transmit the chair’s position and its route to destination’.

So, New York comedian, actor and writer Tyler Fischer decided to go right to the heart of the problem and offer in-store couples counselling.

‘We like to check in on the couples,’ he explains to shoppers in the video, saying he’s been sent by Swedish HQ.

He goes on to explain that he studied at the famous Kycklingköttbullar (translation: chicken meatballs) University in Sweden.
