We’re ready to move. (Picture: Dubldom)

When you’re trecking through crowds of people in a muggy city, struggling to find a seat on the tube, or heaving a deep sigh when you realise that yes, all five of your flatmates are currently at home, the idea of packing it all in and living on a houseboat sounds pretty tempting.

But then you remember that houseboats tend towards being tiny. You worry about wifi connectivity. You’re not sure if a little foldaway bed swaying gently on the sea is quite as peaceful as you imagine.

Maybe a standard houseboat isn’t the best idea.

But a floating house? A full-on, decked out, fancy house floating on water? That… Read the full story

It’s just like the movies (Picture: Getty)

As a rule of thumb, never ask Reddit for advice. Or, at least, if you do, take it with a pinch of salt.

This is the story of a young Irishman called David who foolishly asked the people of Reddit for some advice before he made the big move to the City of Angels.

‘What is the city of LA like? Are the people friendly? It is easy to get an entry level job and how accurate is the portrayal in the movies?’ u/iamdavid2 asked innocently two days ago.

He had no idea what was coming (warning: some slightly NSFW language).

The first response was pretty eye-opening, but there was something a… Read the full story

worst haircut ever
Stop. (Picture: Youtube/Aleona Starzhinskaia)

On February 20, a hairdressing app named Barbershapp posted a video of a model having her haircut, with the simple question: ‘Is this a new trend in the making?’

Millions of views later, the answer was a resounding ‘holy f***, no. Stop that. No.’

Why? Because the resulting haircut is truly, deeply awful. It’s like each layer is getting a little bowl cut. Oh, and there are little stringy bits left over.

Barbershapp described the look as ‘quirky, stylish and smooth’. The internet strongly disagrees.

Every little cut is excruciating to watch.

And seeing it take shape is a horrifying experience.

Ok, ok I’m pretty biased I know.

But funnily enough, even people who aren’t from the area still think that South London has a certain something about it.

A certain thing that you just don’t get in other parts of the city.

The North/South London divide is something that is… Read the full story

One man has taken ‘man-time’ to the next level by creating an incredible man cave.

Without speaking to his wife beforehand to check she was okay with him taking over an entire room in the house, Stephen Harris, from Swansea, got set into the making of his No Girls Allowed space.

But it wasn’t a quick makeshift ‘we’ll add a mini-bar and a pool table’, oh no. It has taken Stephen eight whole years to create what is now a masterpiece.

Knocking a hole from the dining room into the garage, his wife was blissfully unaware that her husband would soon be hanging out without her… Read the full story

From meditation to positive thinking, we’re all about self-improvement in 2016.

That means making sure everything we do is done in the best way possible, to the best of our ability.

Including pooing. Of course.

So we’re eternally grateful to Dr Kenneth Koch for revealing to Women’s Health a key tip for happy, efficient, fulfilled poo: the perfect time for taking a dump.

According to Koch, the best time for pooing is not in a hurried, silent few minutes at work, or last thing at night before bed. It’s first thing in the morning, right after you wake up.

Sums up our feelings, really (Picture: Getty)

The fear of a bad haircut and making small talk is all too real.

Here’s 20 things you only know if you hate going to the hairdressers.

1. The several week/month-long struggle you have debating whether or not you should just book an appointment.

2. The sheer amount of tabs you have open when going back and forth between local salons to look at prices and reviews.

3. You spend every day analysing your hair to see if you really do need a cut or not. Maybe it’ll be alright for another month or so?

4. When you finally find a salon you like the sound of,… Read the full story

Have you ever tried to hear what a person was saying based on the way they move their lips?

It’s a well-know that many of those who are deaf converse through lip-reading. But have you ever stopped and thought about just how hard that can be?

In a video produced by Little Moving Pictures, one woman, Rachel Kolb, perfectly articulates what it feels like to experience a world that you can’t physically hear.

The video shows a range of people speaking about every day experiences. Each story is subtitled. But as their stories continue, the subtitles begin to blur until they completely vanish and the audio fuses out… Read the full story

Martijn Van Oers is dad to Dop, a five-year-old boy who recently had to say goodbye to his best friend.

Dop had been best friends with Roos, a four-year-old girl, for most of their lives.

Growing up together living just a block apart, they were practically inseparable.

When Martijn was told that Roos would be moving to another village at the end of summer 2014, he decided to spend the time the children had left together photographing what he said was an ‘uncomplicated, unconditional friendship’.

He continued to add to the photo series until the day Roos left, both to record the wonderful memories of their friendship, and also as a way for… Read the full story

Would you? (Picture: Myles Goode/metro.co.uk)

Just a few years ago, we reported on the creation of a new type of self-help class: orgasmic meditation, also known as OM.

It seemed like one of those new-agey gimmicks. But according to Dazed, 2016 marks the year paying to have randomers gently stroke your clitoris officially became a thing. As in, a thing people are actually doing. In the thousands, apparently.

So, here’s your need to know. Orgasmic Meditation classes are being offered by a group called OneTaste – fronted by Turn ON Britain in the UK. The classes offer women the chance to team up with a stranger… Read the full story

Young Woman Using Mobile Phone While Applying Lipstick

If you’ve ever experienced that heartbreaking moment when the lipstick you’ve been set on buying is out of stock EVERYWHERE, we may have found the perfect solution.

And, conveniently, that solution comes in app form.

Yep, really.

An app called Flawless can help you find your desired lipstick shade as well as giving you the ability to recreate any beloved colours that have been devastatingly discontinued.

It might sound too good to be true, but we can confirm this is a thing that exists and it’s brilliant.

To recreate a discontinued shade, you simply type in the item details, aka, the brand and product name.

From there they can pretty much duplicate your desired product.

It’s not as unlikely as it sounds either: it works because many cosmetic brands tend to purchase ‘white label’ (or unbranded) products from manufacturers before putting their own branding on it to sell, as Teen… Read the full story

It’s crumbly, sweet, nutty and moreish.

Huge in the Middle East and Eastern Europe for centuries, halva has now made its way over to mainstream bakeries in NYC and London as the trendiest new sweet treat.

The Bulgarian staple is made from sesame seed paste, aka tahini, sugar and water (or honey), and whatever else you fancy – usually nuts and maybe something aromatic, too.

It goes well with hot black coffee as a mid-morning boost.
