Four-year-old goes on first aerobatic flight with her dad; laughs in the face of danger

Four-year-old Léa Langumier has got nerves of steel.

We tend to get a little sweaty at the first sign of turbulence. If the plane drops even a teeny tiny bit, we’re gripping the armrest and reaching for the G&T.

Not Léa. She literally laughs in the face of danger.

She’s been going on plane rides since she was tiny with her dad and pilot Raphael, who is president of Quebec’s Aviation RL.

And recently, at the little daredevil’s request, dad took her for her first aerobatic flight.

She looks a little bored on take-off because, y’know, been there, done that.

But when dad decides to flip the little plane over, she is having the best time.… Read the full story

Junk food might be ruining your memory, says study

Remember what you had for dinner last night?

Struggling? Well, according to a new study, that ready meal you popped in the microwave might be destroying your memory.

Researchers at the University of California at San Diego found a link between trans fats used in processed foods and impaired memory, particularly in young men.

The study found that guys aged 45 and younger, who ate a diet high in trans fats, were able to ‘recall fewer words’ in memory tests.

Trans fats are used in biscuits, cakes and processed foods to improve taste and ensure a longer shelf-life, and have been linked to higher levels of cholesterol and heart disease.

Researchers analysed results from 1,018 men and women who had been asked to complete a dietary survey and take part in word recall memory tests.

On average, men aged 45 and younger were able to recall 86… Read the full story

Could this have been you? (Picture: SWNS)

After a woman was caught on film by a cyclist enjoying a bowl of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes (unconfirmed) while at the wheel yesterday, it turns out, it may not be that unusual.

You could say we’re becoming a nation of cereal offenders.

Over four per cent (so an estimated 2.6 million) Brits ‘fessed up to eating breakfast in the driver’s seat while on the way to work, in a new poll of just over 1,000 people by breakfast drink Up&Go.

And five per cent (potentially over 3 million of us) regularly eat breakfast on the morning commute (Red Bull and dry roll anyone?)

Forget holding a can of coke between your tits, the ‘belly button challenge’ or grabbing your boobs, the new totally pointless trend in town is balancing coins on your collarbone.

The trend began in China (where thankfully it seems to have been contained… for now), and received over 34 million hits on Weibo (their equivalent of twitter) in just 24 hours.

But just like the ‘challenges’ which have come before (with the exception of #BoobsOverBellyButtons) – which on the surface seem like just a bit of silly fun – this trend is actually just another way for women to be… Read the full story

I have never been a massive fan of music. As a kid, when all my idiotic friends were buying Haircut One Hundred LPs, I was listening to Pete and Dud’s filthy Dagenham Dialogues and learning Monty Python sketches off by heart.

Yes, maybe the lads with a Nick Heyward got all the girls at the time, but my perfect rendition of the Spanish Inquisition sketch would lead to me eventually getting off with Gwyneth Paltrow… Oh no, hold on, that was John Hannah in Sliding Doors.
Even if there are infinite alternate universes, nobody in any of them has ever got a woman into bed by doing a spot-on impression of Cardinal Biggles. ‘No one expects the… Read the full story

This wasn’t just mummy’s big day.

Four-year-old Anderson Palmer from Knoxville, Tennessee, was determined to share the spotlight with mum Michelle Hall at her wedding to Anthony Palmer, on June 13.

In fact, the little girl was so convinced the day was really about her that she repeatedly referred to herself as the bride throughout the ceremony.

And the feisty flower girl finally seized her moment during the wedding photos.

Photographer Leah Bullard explained to the Detroit Free Press: ‘I was setting up the bridal party to take the bridal party photographs, like I do at every wedding, and so I took a few shots of that, and then I said, “Okay, I need the bride… Read the full story

Tinder is an app which offers singletons a bit of fun, but unfortunately it attracts a whole lot of A-holes nasty people as well.

The competition is tough, but we believe the biggest jerk on the entire app has been discovered by a woman called Gabi.

She probably swiped right on this moderately attractive gentleman hoping for some pleasant flirting and maybe even a date or two.

She was wrong.

Rather than try to explain the message this waste of oxygen sent to Gabi, we’ll just show you.

Make time for your family (Picture: Getty)

While many people have gone through their lives attached to the hips of their parents, grandparents or siblings, chances are that you’ve gone through a stage where you just wanted your space.

Whether that was to hang out with your friends, sneak out to see your new love interest or even just to watch TV under a cushion fort you made in your room. (What? Forts are cool!)

But you really should make more time for your family. Here’s why…

1. They brought you into this world

Yup, your parents went through a lot to get you here, so we’re sure they’d appreciate spending more time with their spawn.

2. They love you… Read the full story

Who doesn’t want a Lego eye patch? (Picture: laylaspatches/Instagram)

One-year-old Layla was born with a small cataract in her left eye. It means she has to wear a patch for two hours a day to encourage vision development.

She will probably have to wear one until she’s around four-years-old, hopefully avoiding the need for eye surgery. So, her brilliant dad Geof Grubb came up with a way of making the experience fun for her.

Each day, he customises her new eye patch. What started as raw sketches has now become something really creative.

After Geof shared his initial designs on Reddit five months ago, to massive acclaim, he’s now back with some new pics, which he shares on the laylaspatches Instagram page.

More bad news for generation rent…

Forget dodgy landlords, exorbitant rents and shoddy repair work, it seems that the biggest curse in the rental market may be your fellow renters.

Anyone who has ever experienced the horror of a housemate interview will know how scary and demeaning they can be.

And now we have facts to back it up, as a survey has revealed that discrimination – on everything from weight and age to sexuality – is rife in the rental market.

So, where should we start?

Well firstly there’s the fact that a massive 73 per cent of people admitted to rejecting a potential housemate because of their weight, while 71 per cent turned an applicant down because… Read the full story

Not even kidding.

Now, we are all for a bit of bacon with everything (we just love lardons) but bacon and peanut butter, deep fried – how is this a thing?

Nick from Dude Foods is repping this food combo in a big way, though this is the man behind the original deep fried peanut butter.

Intrigued? Here’s the method behind the magic.

1. Spoon peanut butter into ice cube trays to freeze.

2. Dunk each cube in flour and then beaten egg to create the batter.

3. Wrap bacon rashers around each peanut butter cube.

4. Whack ’em in the fryer.

See? (Picture: Visit Kent)

Kent, the Garden of England, gateway to Europe and – according to Lonely Planet – the best place in Europe for a family holiday.

Kent is attracting its fair share of attention in 2015, so let’s count down the top ten reasons why it is the place to be in 2015…

1. Unbeatable coast

With more Blue Flag beaches than anywhere else in the UK, Kent’s coast has to be seen to be believed. Wander the white sands of Botany Bay, surf in Joss Bay, and soak up the sun on Folkestone’s shingle shores.

Even our seaweed is sought after – check out the scents and serums by Haeckles based in Margate and beloved by Selfridges.

Going for a bikini wax is right up there with other inconveniences such as getting a parking ticket, or receiving your period on the day you were planning to finally spend the night with the guy you’ve been seeing for a while.

It’s not great, but let’s face it; there is no escaping it.

1. *Looks down* wow – when did it get that out of control?

Maybe around the six week milestone after the last wax?

2. Right OK, better get this handled

Check out this cool cat.

He can balance virtually anything on his back paws without even trying. Sometimes he even does it in his sleep. Just because he can.

According to Rocket News 24, the top cat belongs to a Malaysian man who only recently discovered his pet’s incredible balancing powers (must have been a slow day).

He then immediately tested the cat’s skills using anything he could find – from shuttlecocks to beer cans – and posted the results on Weibo.

Although we’re not entirely convinced Photoshop didn’t play a huge part in at least some of these images, the owner insists they’re 100 per cent genuine.

Eyes off! (Picture: Corbis)

Love can be an utter bitch, right?

There is no controlling that heart of yours – when it decides to give itself up to someone, it takes you along for the ride whether you like it or not. And that ride can often be a brutal process that leaves your mind warped and your soul in pieces.

I’m not really selling romance here, but not everyone is lucky enough to fall for someone free, single and equally into you.

We’ve all been through all of this at least once – that crushing procedure of falling for someone that you just can’t have.

Well, that’s totally ruined our day (Picture: sadanimalfacts.com)

Wow, Mother Nature is a cruel, cruel mistress – if this Tumblr page is to be believed.

The Sad Animal Facts Tumblr is drawn by illustrator and writer from Portland, Brooke Barker, but made in nature.

We’re warning you, it gets pretty bleak.

Brooke explains her work as ‘a series about the twisted and horrible lives of the world’s cutest animals.’

Take pigs, for example. We know they’re pink, have curly tails and occasionally enjoy taking trips to the city. But did you know they can’t ever see the sky because of the position of their eyes?

Sad face.

You may never recover from this.

We hate to break it to you, but Emus will never be able to do the moonwalk.

Thongs are getting a seriously bad rep right now, because apparently ALL women are finally reclaiming granny pants for the sake of good old fashioned comfort.

Thong sales may be down –  a report by American market research company NPD Group revealed a seven per cent drop in the last year – but for every woman saying she only wears ‘proper’ bum-covering pants I am saying: I only wear thongs.

And you know what, that’s not because I’m trashy, or trying to be sexy, or into belfies and it doesn’t make me any less of a feminist.

Nor does it mean I’m prone to thrush or live my life with a constant wedgie.

Realising you’ve got low blood sugar just as the boss calls a meeting.

When you inject into a muscle.

Creeping down to the kitchen at 3am for a KitKat.

Such is the lot of a Type 1 diabetic.

Here are a few other things only we understand:

1. That question: ‘Have you got bad diabetes?’ What does that even mean? There’s no such thing. There’s Type 1 and Type 2.

2. No, I’m not fat. Thanks for pointing that out though.

3. Yes, I do have to inject myself and, no, it’s not the worst part.

4. In fact, quite a lot of the time, you don’t even feel it. Which means you sometimes can’t remember if you’ve given your injection already or not. Asks a friend…

5. Except, there are those times when you inject into a muscle. Hurts like a motherf*cker.
