This is a true story.
A Yorkshire man called 999 because his girlfriend let the cat eat his bacon.
The audio of the call – which has been released by West Yorkshire Police to highlight the number of time-wasting calls they receive – is quite frankly one of the finest examples of stupidity we’ve encountered in a long time.
The call starts with the 999 operator saying, ‘West Yorkshire Police, what’s the emergency?’, to which the man on the other line answers, ‘Me girlfriend has let the cat eat my bacon.’
It goes progressively downhill from there.
